EAGLES BATTLE IN D1 SEMI-FINAL THRILLER

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Mar 11, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
#11 TRUMBULL EAGLES vs #7 NOTRE DAME OF FAIRFIELD
It was a tough end to a great season as the Trumbull Eagles battled the Notre Dame Lancers in the D1 sem-final.  In front of a packed Ingalls Rink, the Eagles played their brand of tough, smart hockey to near perfection.

After a slow start in the first period, the Eagles found themselves trailing 2-0. The team showed their trade mark tenacity by turning the tables on the Lancers with big hits and lots of offensive pressure in the second.  With two goals from senior, Ryan Kisken the game was tied up. James Devore assisted on both goals and Dan Miressi added a second assist.

Anchored again by Charlie Ogalin's play in net, the Eagles showed that they could move the puck, skate and be just as physical as their D1 opponent. A power play goal in the third period from Dan Miressi (James Devore added his third assist of the game) put the home team on top 3-2.  Notre Dame was forced to pull their goalie for the extra attacker and tied the game as the clocked ticked off the remaining minutes.

The fatigued Eagles ultimately fell in OT but it was an inspiring performance.  The Trumbull skaters proved that they belonged among the elite programs and could compete with the state's very best.  We are all very proud of the team's accomplishments.

EAGLES KNOCK OFF TERRORCATS

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Mar 3, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The 15-5-0 Eagles knocked off the 19-1-0 Terrorcats 3-1 in the first round of the CIAC D1 State Tournament. Dan Hyde opened the scoring on a nice pass from Dan Miressi,  James Devore got the game winner from Ryan Kisken and Miressi closed out the scoring with an empty netter.  The Eagles played an aggressive and physical game, forcing the play in the neutral zone. The defense put together one of their best games all season, protecting the net and owning the corners. Charlie Ogalin was rock solid in net making 37 saves and frustrating a talented Terrorcat offense.

Trumbull will take on Darien this saturday in round two of the tournament.  Click the link below for complete

SENIOR NIGHT

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 21, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

It was all Trumbull on senior night as the home team beat the Fairfield Mustangs 7-2.  The Eagles honored their five seniors; James Devore, Ryan Kisken, Dan Hyde, Jordan Kennedy and Chris Hinesley.  The class of 2006 has been one of Trumbull's most successful and it was fitting that on their night, the Eagles logged their fourteenth victory- setting the regular season mark for wins.

All five seniors figured in on the scoring as James Devore had 1 goal and 4 assists, Ryan Kisken had 2 assists, Chris Hinesley had 1 goal, Dan Hyde and Jordan Kennedy each added an assist.

All are talented players, exceptional students and fine young men. They have certainly left their mark on the program and will be missed.

EAGLES CLOSE IN ON WIN MARK

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Feb 13, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

At 12-4-0, the 2006 Trumbull Eagles are closing in on the regular season win mark.  The best regular season record (13-7-0) was set by the class of 2004.  The most wins overall was set by last year's squad at 15 as they advanced to the CIAC finals.  Both marks are well within the grasp of the 2006 Eagles.

James Devore (1g + 3a) and Dan Miressi (4g) both registered four points in Trumbull's 6-5 win over Staples pushing them closer to some individual marks.  Devore needs 15 more points to join a select group of Trumbull skaters that have notched 100 career points.  Miressi is also in pursuit of 100 points, scoring lead for area skaters and the single season goal mark.
