FCIAC CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Dec 31, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Eagles opened the Tier 1 Christmas tournament with a 3-2 win over Stamford. The win was highlighted by Charlie Ogalin's thirty-six saves. Chris Hinesley and Dan Miressi each had a goal and an assist. Trumbull then faced off against FCIAC power, New Canaan. Although the Eagles skated well, they found themselves down 5-1 going into the third period. The Trumbull skaters never quit and answered back with three third period goals but eventually fell 6-4 to the Rams. The home team did not show as well against Greenwich in the final game of the tournament. The Cardinals got off to an early 5-2 lead as the THS defense struggled and the offense failed to put pucks on the Greenwich net. Trumbull again came back in the third scoring two but gave up a bad angle power play goal and empty netter to end the game 7-4. image

MIXED REVIEWS

The Eagles started the season with two decisive road wins beating New Fairfield 8-2 and Chesire 7-2. The Chesire game saw Trumbull dominate in the offensive zone and was highlighted by a James Devore hat-trick. As good as the Eagles looked against the Rams, they were equally bad against North Branford. The T-Birds out skated, out hustled and out muscled the home team all night. Trumbull had difficulty moving the puck out their defensive zone, took (12) undisciplined penalties and failed to generate any shots until the third period. Trumbull looks to rebound against Stamford, their first match up of the FCIAC Christmas tournament. image

EAGLES TO SKATE AT NEW RINKS

Posted by Coach Gonzo at Jun 19, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
THS Athletic Director, Michael Herbst, recently made the exciting announcement that the Trumbull Eagles will be moving to the newly constructed, Rinks at Shelton. The 90,000 square foot arena boasts two NHL regulation rinks, thirteen locker rooms, pro shop, conference hall and a 10,000 square foot fitness center. The Rinks are part of River Road's state-of-the-art sports complex. Trumbull will join St. Joseph's, Masuk, Staples and Shelton High School, which all skate out of The Rinks. The Eagles look forward to kicking off the 2004-2005 season at their new home and hope to build on last season's success. The Eagles return a solid core with a number of good young skaters ready to contribute. In 2003-2004, Trumbull advanced all the way to the CIAC DII semi-final before losing to eventual champion, North Haven.
