2002 Golden Jet Award

The 2002 Golden Jet Award went to David Meininger who played 5 seasons with Buckeye Youth Football. He started with the Jaguars JV in 1997 & 1998. He took off the '99 Season, then returned to the Jets Varsity for the 2000 through 2002 Seasons.

David was definitely the team leader and the guy who set the tone in the Jets games, as he gave everything he had everytime the Jets strapped it up. He personified what this award was all about, and was very deserving of this honor.

2000 Golden Jet Award

The first Golden Jet Award went to Josh Varney who began his 4 year career as a Jaguar. He played Jaguar JV in 1998 & 1999, before volunteering to go to the Jets Varsity when they were formed. He played for the Jets in 2000 and 2001.

He was their center both seasons, and showed leadership and dedication, by working to make weight and playing hurt.

Update: Josh played with the Bucks from 2004-2007 as an Offensive and Defensive lineman. He won the Golden Buck Award as a senior. He is currently attending college at West Liberty College in West Virginia. He was a member of the 2008 Hilltoppers Football team as an Offensive lineman, redshirted the 2009 season and returned to the Offensive Line in 2010. Josh was a senior offensive lineman on the 2012 edition of the West Liberty Hilltoppers and graduated in the Spring of 2013.

Golden Jet Award

The Jets team was begun in the 2000 season and In 1999 we began awarding the Golden Jet Award on our Varsity Squad. It was patterned after the Golden Buck that is awarded at Buckeye High School each seaon on the Varsity Football team.

It is awarded by the Coaches to the Varsity player who we feel shows the most Pride, Effort, Dedication, and Positive Football Attitude. Listed below are the winners.

2001 Golden Jet Award

The 2001 Golden Jet Award went to Blane Butcher who played with the JV Jets in 2000 and the Varsity in 2001. Blane was also a linemen who was ready for every practice and game, and showed the qualities that this award signifies.
