The 2009 Golden Jet award went to Tyler Hagmeier for his Leadership, Pride, Dedication and Positive Football Attitude. Tyler has been a 5 year Jet where he has played with the JV Squad from 2005 through 2007 and the last two seasons with the Jets Varisty where he has been the team's leader. Congratulations Tyler on your award, dedication and positive attitude.
Update: After playing QB and having a bad broken arm and wrist in 8th grade Tyler gave up football and has been concentrating on basketball in High School.
In 2009 Head Coach Steve Watkins added the 'Iron Jet' Award to the program, it is patterned after the Iron Buck Award given out at the high school level by the Bucks.
The first award went to Tristan Widenmeyer for his Heart, Toughness, Intensity and Desire as a member of the Jets. Tristan has played with the Jets for the last 7 seasons. He began with the Jets Flag team during 2003-2004, moved on to the Jets JV from 2005-2007 and spent the last two seasons at the Varsity level. Congratulations on your award Tristan!
The Jets did not field a Varsity Squad in 2006 so there was no award.
The Jets (4-4) on the regular season and (5-6) overal finished 2009 Saturday in a playoff loss to the Jaguars by a score of 31-0. This was their 5th appearance in the playoffs in 9 seasons. They finished in 4th place followed by the Brunswick Jets who were seeded 5th. Round 1 of the Varsity Playoffs . The Jets knocked the Brunswick Jets from the playoffs on October 24th at Buckeye, those Jets had won 3 Consecutive Championships in the Varsity Division from 2006 through 2008. Congratulations to the Varsity Coaches and Players!
