The 2013 Iron Jet Award went to six year Jet Michael DeFranco for his intense Heart, Toughness, Intensity and Desire he displayed during this year's Varsity Season. Collin is a 7 year member of the Jets. Mike began his time with the Jets during the 2008 & 2009 Pee Wee seasons. He then moved up to the JV Squad for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. And he has been with the Jets Varsity last year and this year and was a member of the 2012 Jets Championship squad last year. Congratulations Mike Jets Nation is pround of you for you hard work this season and since 2008!
The 2013 Golden Jet award winner was Cody Svagerko for the Leadership, Pride, Effort, Dedication and Postive Football Attiude he showed during the season. Cody was a 4 year player. He began with the Jets JV during the 2010 and 2011 seasons and then spent the last 2 years with the Jets Varsity. Congratulations Cody the Jets are proud of your perfomance!
During the 2012 season the Jets acquired a pretty big fan in Brett Hubney. Brett wanted to play flag and would have been on the Jets since his older brother Collin is a Jet, but due to illness was not able to play. He signed up for Pee Wee this season but had to withdraw a couple weeks ago since his health is still not quite up to par to play a contact sport. That won't stop him from rooting for the Jets though. He recieved an official Jets Jersey at last year's Jets Banquet and this season you will see him at games either wearing that or a Jets Pee Wee Jersey identical to the PW squad's jerseys. We are glad Brett is doing better and hope to see him at games this season and hopefully in pads for the Jets in the future! Go Brett! Go Jets!!
The Jets Varsity season came to a conclusion on Sunday, November 27th when the Jets were eliminated from the playoffs in a loss to the Redskins 14-8. This year was a rebuilding year and the team got better as the year went on which is good news for next season's group. We want to thank Head Coach Steve Watkins and his Assistants Andrew Nigh and Mark Crooks for their work this season in getting these kids ready to play each week as they worked all season to get them prepared.
We also want to thank our Team Moms Laura Murray and Audrey Calame for all the stuff they do to help, such as spiritwear, weekly emails and making sure that all the players, cheerleaders and parents are up on what is going on with the Jets each week through out the season. Next up for this squad is the season ending banquet on November 11th. Thanks again Coaches, Team Moms and parents! LET'S GO JETS!!
