OCEANSIDE, CA - Multisports OC Head Coach, Michael Collins, showed he is not too old to still be fast as he finished 3rd overall at the Camp Pendleton Olympic Distance Triathlon. The race featured a harbor protected swim, complete with disel fuel taste, a long soft sand and pavement run to T1, a rolling bike course through camp pendleton, and a two lap, mostly flat, run. Conditions were ideal for racing as it stayed overcast through the entire race despite the late start time of 8:30am for the 1st wave. At least 15 Nova Masters & Multisports OC members participated as well. Patrick Dideum had the fastest overall swim time of 20:10 (including a long run to transition). Bob Stipp was 3rd in 50-54 and Rick Laird finished 3rd in the "Big Boy" division. Sheila Nicholas was 3rd in 50-54 women. Coeur'd Alene, ID - Two Multisports OC members completed their first Ironman distance races in Idaho on June 26, 2005. David Bourguignon, competing in only his 4th triathlon ever, finished in 12:36, and Steve Peeler finished in 13:41. Full results and splits available HERE. Here is a portion of Steve Peeler's race report: "I am an IRONMAN!! Thanks for all your help in the past six months. I may not have trained harder, but I definately trained smarter!!. I finished in 13:41. The swim was 1:09, which is better than my previous best at a half ironman doubled. As recently as IMCA I did a 38 on the swim. I just kept an even, steady pace, not too hard, not too eary and worked my way through the packs. I felt strong the entire ride (and comfortable). I fueled well. At the end of the race I felt FABULOUS. Everyone else looked like they were going to die, but I felt great. The biggest surprise of all was my recovery. I felt strong all week, never did have a time where I felt like I had just done an IM." Steve CONGRATULATIONS IRONMEN!image
