PACIFIC COAST TRI REPORT - 2005

NEWPORT COAST, CA - Multisports OC had an impressive showing at this year's USAT Regional Sprint Championship. Ian Pyott led the way with his 4th overall victory of the year. Brandy Bounds won the 20-24, with Becky Flaughery close behind in 2nd. Max Biessmann won mens 20-24. Andy Bailey won the 60-64. First timer, Greg Dillion, got his triathlon career off to a great start with a victory in the Novice division. Coach Michael Collins slipped a spot from his usual age group win to 2nd behind top San Diego athlete Kevin Bree. "Damm, I can't even blame it on having a baby yet!" Collins said. At Multisports OC we offer the following tests and evaluations to see where your strengths and weaknesses lie and possible ways to improve: BIKE FIT & CYCLING WATTAGE OUTPUT TEST (on a CompuTrainer). This also includes video of test to evaluate technique under stress. Schedule by email with Coach Mike. FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING 7 movement tests used to evaluate strength, flexibility, and core stabilization. Exercises to improve weak scores are also included. Schedule by email Coach Brian. JEFF BROWN WINS VINEMAN FULL AQUABIKE

SANTA ROSA, CA - Jeff Brown, 44, unleashed his cycling prowness with a dominating performance at the Vineman Full Aquabike competition. The event featured a 2.4 mile swim followed by a 112 mile bike (but no run). Jeff finished 1st overall in 6:30:54, more than 15 minutes ahead of the second place finisher. He swam a respectable 1:06, then followed it up with a smokin' 5:20 bike split despite losing some time when he went off course due to a missing marshall on the course. "I felt good and learned a lot for my first full Ironman in Florida in a few months." Jeff said. "Now I just need to figure out how to run 4 hours when I get off the bike." Other Nova and Multisports OC members who participated included Rick "Clydsdale" Laird who was 4th overall at 7:02:23, Mo Langley, 7th female at 8:04:57, Tim Harward finished in 8:05:08, and Jennifer Morin, 11th female at 8:53:28. In the AquaBike Half Multisports OC Coach Louis Bednar finished 2nd over in 3:04:59, just 54 seconds behind the overall winner. Full results can be found HERE.image

Top 3 age group finishers included Brandy Bounds, 1st in 20-24; Micahel Collins, 1st in 35-39; Rick Laird, 1st in Clydsdale under 40; Mole Rodgers, 2nd in Clydsdale 40+; Klim Granovsky, 2nd in 55-59. Also, Jenifer Padilla was first overall female in the Duathlon race.
