News and Announcements
FIELD DAY - APRIL 14, 2012
Below are some of the tasks/activities that need to be done.
Corning Field Tasks:- Painting of both sheds and the concession stand. Bring your own brushes and a bucket of water. Water is not available at Corning to clean brushes.
- Replacing ridge vents on the concession stand. These vents were badly vandalized over the winter.
- Clearing the base paths of grass overgrowth. There will be at least one edger and 1 bobcat on hand, donated by Dube's Landscaping.
- Anyone with a rototiller is encouraged to bring it. Between the edger and tiller we should be able clean up the base paths nicely.
- Pickup trucks and trailers will be put to good use as there is a fair amount of tree branches that need to be hauled away to the town dump.
- Anyone with a mowing tractor is encouraged to bring that as well.
- Install new safety base sets on both fields.
GMS Field Tasks:
- Install a roof on each of 2 new dugouts.
- Determine scoreboard functionality and debug any electrical problems associated to the scoreboard.
- Refurbish the batting cage superstructure and suspend netting.
Jeff Lane Tasks:
- Clear brush and tree branches from areas by by the dugouts
- Drag rake both fields
- Install new safety base sets

Below are answers to some common questions:
Why are skills assessments so early?Teams like to start practices as early as possible (usually mid to late April), which of course depends a lot on the weather. It takes approximately three weeks to organize the teams (manager, coach, and player selections) and order sufficient number of shirts, hats, balls, etc.
When will games begin?
Games typically begin first week of May. Some divisions could start earlier; however, this will be up to each division coordinator. Game schedules cannot be confirmed until the number of teams that will be playing this year is known, which is another reason for early skills assessments. When to exact dates of each game is known, the LBA calendar will be updated, so check it often in April.
Will baseball games conflict with soccer or lacrosse?
No. LBA arranges regularly scheduled games so that the games will not conflict with other sports.
My child is on a travel baseball team, can my child play town ball?
Yes. LBA arranges regularly schedled games to not conflict with travel baseball games.
