FIELD DAY - APRIL 14, 2012

Posted by Alan Hood on Apr 08 2012 at 05:00PM PDT
Saturday, April 14, beginning 8:00 AM, parents and players are requested to meet at the fields their player plays and assist in activities/tasks that will make the fields great for the kids to play baseball. The natural elements takes its toll on the fields and they need to be maintained from year to year. Coming together as a community will make the baseball experience the best possible for the kids.

Below are some of the tasks/activities that need to be done.

Corning Field Tasks:
  1. Painting of both sheds and the concession stand. Bring your own brushes and a bucket of water. Water is not available at Corning to clean brushes.
  2. Replacing ridge vents on the concession stand. These vents were badly vandalized over the winter.
  3. Clearing the base paths of grass overgrowth. There will be at least one edger and 1 bobcat on hand, donated by Dube's Landscaping.
  4. Anyone with a rototiller is encouraged to bring it. Between the edger and tiller we should be able clean up the base paths nicely.
  5. Pickup trucks and trailers will be put to good use as there is a fair amount of tree branches that need to be hauled away to the town dump.
  6. Anyone with a mowing tractor is encouraged to bring that as well.
  7. Install new safety base sets on both fields.

GMS Field Tasks:
  1. Install a roof on each of 2 new dugouts.
  2. Determine scoreboard functionality and debug any electrical problems associated to the scoreboard.
  3. Refurbish the batting cage superstructure and suspend netting.

Jeff Lane Tasks:
  1. Clear brush and tree branches from areas by by the dugouts
  2. Drag rake both fields
  3. Install new safety base sets
