Rose Tree FC

In a heartbreak loss last night, which is hard to put in words, RTFC was 4 seconds away from the Futsal Final. Playing in our first Futsal Open league, we opened up in the semi's vs All-World. In recent weeks we have over-come a slow start and have put together 3 great games. Lat night we had our 4th complete game, or almost as Kevin and Tor and JR led the way capped off by a very pretty goal led by a O'Neill 30 yard pass and clinical finish by Kevin. However holding for dear life and 4 seconds to go they tied the game and send it to extra time where the beat RTFC 9-7. We have to settle for 3rd. It was real disappointing, as we went from being 4 seconds from the final to 3rd place. BIG SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the eve of one of our biggest signings in the transfer market for TEASA Spring/Summer, Rich Carroll agreed to play for Rose Tree FC, we brought our game last night. We played the un-defeated Sun Valley High School team.Many of our fans made the trip last night via TAXI and were there to support us. Also, one of our VP's, Bobby Schultz came out to support the lads. We started Calamity, Rooney-Rich and Ben-Helner on D, with Cropper-Tor-Kev up front. This would be our best complete Futsal game as we played marking defense , stayed disciplined and converted on all our chances in a 7-5 victory. Kevin , Tor and Cropper were again magnificent up front,scoring goal after goal, Rooney had a phantom head ball goal, and a highlite moment when Helner playing in front of his daughter sliced a 50 yard pass to Kevin for a goal. However the game at the end got out of control a bit, with cheap shots and yelling and cursing. here are some funny tidbits: Rooney getting yelled at: You're a f$%$%$%$ old man, and when I run you get out of my way, this ain't f^^^^^^ basketball. ok two things: Rooney only looks like 25, so OLD MAN, come on. second I didn't know the rules were I had to open up a lane for these guys to run. Next time I will make sure I get out of the way. Kevin getting yelled at: Yo you f%%%%% 40 year old, you're messing with a 17 year old, and I will kick your ass. ok, anyone else want to put money on Kevin except for me. and our nicest player Tor: One of them yells, "all night long that a%%%%%%%$ has been cheap, one cheap shot after another." and the most comical, Cropper was playing peace-maker. are you kidding me. after the game, the commish gave everyone a Scottish-bloc toungue lashing at the behavior. No one understood him so OH well. 2-2-1 now, and playoffs next week. hey our best performance on D and no O'Neill. HMMMM

For the second time this season we lost a close one to All-World, 9-7. The game was even-steven for the most part, as we exchanged leads, however in the second half, 15 minutes in they hammered us. We did our best to stage a comeback, as Cropper, Kevin and Tor refused to give them the W. however we ran out of time. I still think we can beat these guys as we lost 2 by 2 goals each time and in Futsal, 2 goals is nothing. We do have 1 week left and then playoffs, and yes our playoff game 1 will be againd ALL WORLD. We have to do better finishing some of our chances and our goaltending needs to be better. Also since we are old men, LOL, we need to stay healthy, as lst night the floor was a mess. It was an ice skating rink, as we all had problems stopping. thanks guys.

We opened up last night still searching for our first victory. Every game we have become stronger and better. Still it would be a huge test. No Calamity (sick), Kevin (vacation), Tor (still hurt) and Cropper (no comment). Helner was forced to go goalie. O'Neill-Richie-Ben on D while Rooney-JR- and out of retirement Mojo. Right before our game, The Sun Valley High Schoolers dispatched All World easily to remain perfect 8-4. The stage was set. The game started with both teams just feeling their way and lots of trash talking by a RTSC member Mr.Gary who captains the Soccer Super Stars. He will change the name he says to ALL Armenia. LOL However the night belonged to JR, who decided to lead us in the night of no-shows. He had vision, finishing ability and creativity. His 4 goals set the tone, Mojo added 2, Rooney finally scored and added 2 more, and game set match 8-3. As it stands now, Sun Valley 3-0-1 All World 2-1-1 Rose Tree FC 1-2-1 Super Stars 0-3-1 2 games left vs All-World and Sun Valley, and then the semis. 4 weeks left overall. Season will end with Championship and 3rd place games on 04/16. Great Futbol.

Well what can I say. What a game last night. It was all set up. The oldest team in the leaguw vs the youngest team, Sun Valley High School. To add pain, we found out late yesterday that Kevin out with pneumonia and Tor possible broken foot from the night before at Rocket Sports. The young bucks looked at us and felt pretty good. Easy one. So they thought. We made some tactical changes, Calamity played goal, and we had our own secret weapon, Mr.Cropper. We also decided to play real disciplined as we knew we could not run and gun. At points we played a 3-1, yes they are smiling in Italy. With many fans at our side, the teams before us stuck around as they wanted these young bucks to lose, we turned it to a GAME. We played patient and packed it in. They could not counter very well and it was apparent that they had no patience. thanks to Cropper and JR we held a modest 2-1 lead at halftime. It should of been larger but they goalie was outstanding. The second half was more of the same, we went back and forth and with less than 8 it was 3-2 us. However one of their players even though he was marked real tight by O'Neill makes this awesome shot and 3-3. Less than 2 to go. they press and a shot re-directs of Rooney's foot and does not give Calamity enough time to react and Goal, game set match. This was the second goal they got of a re-direct as their first one went of Ben's foot. After the game, they gave us kudos as we gave them the best game. Our fans gave us a standing O. It was real tough. If either Kevin or Tor were there we would of won. We are starting to feel more comfortable playing Futsal and it's showing. By far Calamity and Cropper led us as they were the stars!!!!! great job guys, keep in mind we all make the playoffs so let's keep working to get this right and the most right time.....
