Way to go Big White Ski Club!

Thank you to our sponsors, Fresh Air Experience, Innov8 and Big White Resort for helping us pull off a successful, U14 Provincial race.

This weekend brought 17 ski clubs, 36 coaches and over 100 volunteers from across the province descended on Big White March 17, 18 & 19th. Saturday brought a variety of mountain weather for our racers with rain, snow, sleet and fog but they were up for the challenge and persevered!

Our own Anna Dewynter placed 13th on Saturday the 18th in the ladies giant slalom event and Adam Fricska placed 10th in the men’s giant slalom.

We were happy to have our local ski legend, Kelsey Serwa attend our awards ceremony bringing smiles to the racers as she handed them their awards.

Ski racing is awesome, thank you everyone!

As you know our ski club was chosen to host the 2017 U14 Provincials at Big White this March 17-19, this is a huge event for our club to host and we want to do it well!

This is where we need your help, the format will be dual races; boys on one course, girls on the other all on the same day. Two ROC (Race Organizing Committees) are required and which means double the usual number of volunteers.

You don’t have to have U14 kids participating in the race in order to volunteer, in fact it would be great if we had some U12 and Nancy Greene parents experienced in a race this size.

On Saturday, right after awards there will be a banquet for the kids and a special activity to end their evening all at Happy Valley.

Looking for something to do over Spring Break? Why not register your little ones for 2 great days of fun up at Big White resort!

Join our Spring Break Camp this March! If you have already been part of our regular program, then you already know how great the program is and how amazing the coaches are!

If you haven’t tried our program and would like a “taste” of what to expect next year, then we invite you to try the Blazers Spring Break Camp! It’s a great opportunity for your children to become comfortable learning skiing skills and develop friendships. It’s all about fun!

When: Tuesday, March 21st & Wednesday, March 22nd ONLY
Where: Big White Resort

One Day Option – $40* (choose either Tuesday or Wednesday)
Two Day Option – $75*

*A Big White ski pass NOT included.

DAILY PROGRAM

• 8:45AM Meet by the top of the Plaza chair
• 9:00 AM SHARP! Coaches leave promptly
• 11:30 to 12:30 Break for lunch (children are under their guardian supervision during the lunch break)
• 12:30 Meet by the Plaza chair
• 3:00pm Return to Plaza Chair area for Coach’s feedback and Pick Up

Our Blazer program gives each child the opportunity to build skills and develop relationships that will last a lifetime! Confidence, self-discipline and pride grow through the camaraderie, friendly competition and family environment in the club.

Each year the children participate within their club in team and individual competitions. These events encourage new friendships in a fun and friendly environment while demonstrating the skills developed in the Big White Blazers program.

• All children registering for the Big White Blazers must be familiar with the ski lifts and be able to ski the beginner slopes in a snow plow.

@TELUS has created a social media campaign to support the @BigWhiteSkiClub through the #TELUSKelownaCup hashtag. They will be donating $2 from each mention! PLEASE SHARE!

February 28th is the last chance to purchase your gala tickets at the Early Bird price of $75.  On March 1st they will be $100.

Our gala is a fun way to volunteer while enjoying a fun filled night! As a member of the Big White Ski Club we are encouraged to attend this awesome event as part of our contribution to the club’s fundraising efforts, and why not? If you aren’t able to attend the gala, then we are asked to make a donation in lieu of ticket purchase (wine for our wine raffle, an auction item, use your imagination). Our annual Ski Swap and Gala are our largest fund raisers which keep our registration fees from significant increases.
