Benfold Division is teaming up with ON-Target Range and Tactical Training Center for a six week course in SMALL ARMS.

The course will be taught by professional qualified personal at ON-Target. The six weeks will cover

• Indoctrination

• Gun Safety

• Gun breakdown and cleaning

• Long guns and pistols

• Shooting postions

• Range time (live target shooting)

• Qualification testing or Marksmanship Ribbon

• Graduation and awards dinner.

The course will begin on Monday the 18th of FEB and run for six weeks. (skipping the week of spring break) Class time is from 6pm to 9pm on those Mondays.

Cost is $75 per person. (adult or cadet) I encourage you to attend with your Cadet if you can. You will be treated as a student and participate as well but the focus will be on the Cadets.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us and I hoping for a terrific turnout. This is essentially a first run at a training like this and the On-Target staff is very excited to work with us. They are giving us a huge discount so $$ won’t stand in the way of the training and fun. If successful they are hoping to extend the program ever further in the future.

Please RSVP me for this event. The commitment level for this course is above average. You can’t miss “indoc” and “gun safety” and starting coming later and expect to shoot… I’ll post the schedule on the calendar.

You all should review Chapter 11 of your BMR’s.

Thats all for now.

Congratulations to Benfold Cadets that returned from POLA and RT! We are all very proud of your willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Benfold Division has a perfect record with regard to Cadets finishing what they start and that reflects well on all of us. Well done.

Recruit Training:
William Furlong
Michael Trunda
Benjamin Peters
Nicholas Heyden
Andrew Henne
Alex Lukowski

POLA (Petty Officer Leadership Academy)
Connor Fox
Christian Taylor
Cortlandt Baum
Jacob Glaysher

We have a lot of awards to give out and will plan to do that as part of our annual inspection. Our next drill will end with the last hour set aside for Cadets sharing their stories from Boot Camp and POLA. Parents are invited.. We’ll save the bring a dish and snacks for the annual inspection.

In addition to Benfold’s new Cadets, our division has gained a few new instructors. Let’s welcome aboard Dawn Fox, Thomas Furlong and Michael Clesceri. Fred Bixby, our PT instructor has not officially joined but he will soon. Fred is making a much appreciated contribution as a volunteer. Other volunteers include CDR Stuart Walker, Dan Fox, Andy Taylor. I can’t tell you all how much each your individual contributions are appreciated.

It is important that Benfold Division stays motivated and active. This has to come from everyone. I’m learning more more as we go and there are many exciting things to do that we have not yet explored. All most all the information is available on the web. (that’s where I get most of my info) I encourage you all to snoop around.

The next big two events we have are the Navy League Annual Meeting (formal) and our Division Annual Inspection. We need Color Guard for both events. Report to the XO with RSVP and Color Guard requests. Tickets for the Navy League Meeting are $40.00 Per person. Color Guard are free. (Dinner is a little pricey and parents are under no obligation to attend).
