On January 9-10, the Chapin Eagles participated in the marathon Blue Devil Invitational at Dreher High School and finished second to Hillcrest. The tournament featured 29 teams from throughout South Carolina and included many 3A teams that the Eagles will face in later competitions. The second-place finish is made more impressive in that Chapin did not compete in the 145- and 182-pound weight classes.

Three Eagles, Taylor Cabe, Nick Martini, and Austin “Jeffy” Jeffords earned third-place honors, and Trent Hodges grappled to a fourth-place finish. In addition, Dylan Whitcomb finished in the top 6, and Noel Hurley and Paul Collingwood finished in the top 8. Chapin recorded 34 victories in the tournament with all wrestlers scoring at least one victory.

The Eagles resume dual match play on Wednesday, January 14 with a visit to Dreher High School to face the Blue Devils
