Intermediate (50/70) Division
Attention all league-age 11, 12 & 13-year olds!
NCLL, in conjunction with Little League International, has opened a new division of play for your age group. The Intermediate (50/70) Division has been created to give players an opportunity to compete at a higher level while transitioning from the 60-foot Little League diamond to the pro-size 90-foot field. The division gets its name from the 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths.
In addition to the added distances, the playing rules will be more like professional baseball, including leadoffs, pickoffs, and the use of larger diameter bat barrels. Pitch counts will be based upon the age of the pitcher and accepted standards for nearly all youth baseball programs. Other organizational and playing rules will be similar to Little League’s Junior Division. The number of teams and roster size will be determined by the NCLL board. An interleague game schedule of approximately 10-12 games will be established with other leagues within District 14. Games will be played on Sundays and may include a weekday game. The season ends with an All-star team playing in a post-season tournament.
During this inaugural season, in order to prevent the dilution of the existing playing divisions, players must also participate on a Major or Junior Division NCLL team. This will provide players a chance to compete at a higher level while still being able to play with their school and neighborhood friends.
