Playoff Night

Posted by Paul Gio at Feb 2, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
This is powered by Nifty Fifty’s Milk Shakes!!!!!!!!!First a huge thank you to all the over 40 gents including the cranky old man , Mark Stone and his nice buddy Nick S. Seriously a huge thank you, we had enough support in our program to put in 2 teams in the open league. While we had our ups and downs this season playing the young guns out there, last night once again we proved we are masters when we want to be, however a bit unlucky. So in our playoff night, we decided to play a 3-2. Sound familiar, and man did it work. We opened up with a convincing easy win over these young idiots. Seriously when you are down 5-1, can someone please please explain to me why you would dance and do 3 double cross-overs in your zone and not advance 1 inch?? I pulled back and sat and allowed the dope to kill 2 minutes of his own time doing this. Of course since O’Neill was not there he tried to do the same thing on Stone and the lad ate grass. Crop you would have been proud. Our early playoff success landed us a final 8 grouping and match up vs the famous DeBeers. They have multiple indoor championships and ended the season without any losses or ties. FC Duke and DeBeers both went 8-0-0 in the regular season. We caught them of guard and went mono-a- mono with them. A moment of magic when Rooney set up an over-lapping Stone and he had a clinical finish. All the lads including Calamity, Nick S, Richie, Felbs, etc did a great job playing D. the game ended a 1-1 tie. Now here are my sour grapes.  I understand the need at the youth level to end games fast and play 4 v 4 no keepers in overtime. However we are there till midnight to begin with, so what’s the hurry. Adults playing 4 v 4 no keepers is a disgrace. Yes 5 minutes in and  we lost,,, and ended up 5th from 26. Oh well. On Behalf of Rose Tree FC, I would like to thank everyone who played. OLE, El president.

3 IN A ROW AND THE ASSASSIN

FC has now rang up 3 straight Ws and last night my sources tell me Felbs worked hard, about time, and the Assassin after missing many games early in the season, has hit his form again and came up with the winner 20 seconds before time. Nice job lads. this will lead us into our playoff night next week. OLE

HOCKEY TIME

Posted by Paul Gio at Jan 12, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

First let me ask the lads, is everyone ok?? Our first game was with stellar guys, Philly International, and it was a hockey game. The only guys really enjoyed it was our own hooligans, Stone and Felbs. I have to say this, I knew the game would resemble and old English style punk game when I saw one of their players playing in his 1970 uniform. Seriously dude.. 1 minute into the game and the yahoo blasts Stone into the boards.  It was a fitting 5-5 tie with concussions. The second game was laid back and fun and FC got a victory. OLE

Tough One

Despite heroic efforts by Felbs as keeper and Rooney, Bob, Meroune , Jonnie R all hitting the target, the young over physical bucks would not be broken as FC lost a tough one last night. The young guys jumped to a 4-1 lead, saw it disappear as FC stormed back to level and got a bit lucky in the end to win out. The game was extremely physical but clean. Bit reckless at times for our old selves, LOL.
