The Golden Bears football C team traveled up to New Palestine on Monday night. New Pal started the game with a long drive to go up 7-0. In the 2nd quarter the Golden Bears found the endzone 3 times. The first was when Eli Chappelow hit Alex Macharia on a long touchdown pass. Axel Conover converted the 2 pt conversion. New Pal would answer with another score to retake the lead 14-8. Chappelow would answer back with a long touchdown run and Conover would convert another conversion to retake the lead 16-14. The defense would make a game changing play as Grant Schene would pick off a Dragons pass and take it to the endzone. Conover would convert another 2 pt conversion to give SHS the lead 24-14 which would be the score at halftime. In the 3rd quarter, New Pal would get another touchdown to make the score 24-21. The Golden Bears would put together a drive that was led by the running game. Behind the offensive line, Axel Conover, Collin Hall, and Keagan Turner would help SHS move the ball down the field. The first play of the 4th quarter would be another Chappelow to Macharia touchdown pass to give SHS a 30-21 lead. New Pal would answer with another score to make the score 30-28. After the Dragons stopped the Golden Bears on 4th down, the game came down to a defensive stop. The Dragons were able to move the ball with a couple of first downs, but Alex Macharia would knock away the Dragons last pass to give the Golden Bears a 30-28 win. The defense was led by a great team effort highlighted by Brayden Schultz, Riley Fortune, Daelin Bowling, Ethan Watkins, Carson Linville, Axel Conover, Collin Hall, Grant Schene, and Eli Chappelow. The Golden Bears move to 4-0 (2-0 in HHC play) and will take on Mt. Vernon next week at home starting at 6pm.

The Golden Bears varsity football traveled to HHC foe New Palestine on Friday night. The Dragons held SHS in check the entire night winning 52-0. Jordan Marcum and Cael Lux lead the Golden Bears in rushing yards. Colton Adkins and Eli Chappelow combined to throw for 73 yards, completing 5 of 7 passes. Jackson Parker would lead the team in receptions with 3 catches for 28 yards. Keythen Norris would finish with 1 catch for 14 yards. Riley Fortune would finish with 1 catch for 31 yards. The defense was lead in tackles by Jordan Marcum, Cael Lux, Roman Scott, Riley Fortune, and Braiden Wright. The Golden Bears will return to the field Friday night at home against Mt. Vernon for Senior Night. The C team will travel to New Palestine on Monday night.
