The Golden Bears varsity football team took the field Friday night in sectional 21 action against Richmond. The game started with Richmond taking the opening kickoff to the end zone for a touchdown and got a 2 point conversion to take a

8-0 lead. After the Golden Bears would punt, Richmond would score another touchdown to take a 14-0 lead. SHS would finally get the offense going and would respond with a 14 yard touchdown run from Jordan Marcum. The defense would force a punt and then the offense would put together another touchdown drive with Eli Chappelow rushing for a 6 yard touchdown to tie the game at 14. Richmond would score another touchdown before halftime and take a 20-14 lead into the locker room. Richmond would score another touchdown to take a 26-14 lead. Cael Lux would answer with a 97 yard touchdown run to make the score 26-21. Richmond would answer with another touchdown to extend their lead to 32-21. The Golden Bears would drive the ball to the 44 yard line when the 3rd quarter ended. On the first play of the 4th quarter, Eli Chappelow would find Jackson Parker for a 44 yard touchdown pass and Cael Lux would convert the 2 point conversion to make the score 32-29. The rest of the game would feature missed opportunities from both teams. With the game on the line, the Golden Bears defense would come up with a goal line stand to give the offense 1 more chance. The offense would move the ball to midfield but unfortunately would run out of time. The final score was 32-29 Richmond as SHS would finish the season 1-6.

SHS would finish the game with a season high 385 yards of total offense. Eli Chappelow would finish the game 10-18 passing with 155 yards. Jackson Parker would finish the game with 5 catches for 87 yards. Alex Macharia would get 2 catches for 26 yards. Roman Scott, Grant Schene and Cael Lux would all finish with 1 catch each. Lux would finish the game with 154 yards rushing. Jordan Marcum had 38 yards rushing, Axel Conover had 33 yards rushing, and Colin Hall finished with 8 yards rushing. Aiden Helfer-Vasquez would got 3-3 on PATs. The defense was led in tackles by Axel Conover, Cael Lux, Jordan Marcum, Grant Schene, and Eli Chappelow
