Former Skyhawk Contending for All-Big East Honors in 2012
Jason Hendricks (Skyhawk '04), is currently a redshirt junior season at the University of Pittsburgh this fall. Jason is starting at Bandit Safety for the Panthers during the 2012 season.
Jason (6'1" 190 lbs) has played in all 4 games for the Panthers during the 2012 season.
Currently, Jason is 4th on team with 16 tackles and has one pass break-up. He also leads the team in interceptions with three
Prior to attending Pittburgh, Jason was a three (3) year starter for the Hudson Catholic HS (Jersey City, NJ) Hawks.
For his efforts, Jason received the following honors/awards during his senior season in 2008:
- Rushed for 1,790 yards
- Collected 110 tackles on defense
- Second leading scorer in New Jersey (all Groups) with 28 touchdowns
- Named to The Star Legder All-New Jersey Non-Public Team
- Hudson County Football Coaches Association Player of the Year and Offensive Back of the Year
- The Star Ledger Hudson County Player of the Year
- Hudson Reporter All-Area and Area's Most Valuable Player
Jason and the Hawks reached the Non-Public Group II Championship game vs the Holy Cross HS (Delran, NJ). Unfortunately Hudson Catholic played a tough game vs the Lancers and loss by a score of 7-0. This marked the 1st time in school history that they reached a State Championship game.
In 2007, Jason led his team in rushing with over 900 yards and scored 10 tds. On defense, Jason anchored the Hawks secondary with his tough hitting and ball-hawking abilities. Jason was named the Madison Square Garden Network Player of the Week for his performance in Hudson Catholic's win over perennial NJ Group 4 power Elizabeth High School. For his efforts, Jason was also named 1st team All-Hudson County RB by the Jersey Journal and Star Ledger.
Jason competed on the track team during his junior year and has run the 55 meter dash in 6.50 seconds.
As a Skyhawk, Jason helped to lead his teams to four chamionship games from his Jr. Pee Wee years through his Midget years. Jason will forever be remembered for his performance in the 2002 Championship game when he caught a short pass from QB Terence Davis (see profile above) and sprinted 60 yards for the winning tochdown with under a minute left in the game. That completed an Undefeated season for the Pee Wees.
We wish Jason continued success in his career at the University of Pittsburgh.

Former Skyhawk Competing in the Ivy League
Rush Miller (Skyhawk '01) begins his sophomore season at Cornell University in 2012. Rush, 6'2" - 196 lbs, is the starting Free Safety for the Big Red and is expected to become one of the leagues top playmakers in the Ivy League.
Currently through two games this season, Rush is second on the team in tackles with 14 and had eight tackles in the opening game vs Fordham University.
In 2010, Rush completed his high school career at Poly Prep Country Day School where he was a 4 year member of the varsity squad. Rush played DB, LB and WR for Poly. Rush was rated the #11 player in NYC by MSG Varsity. A versatile athlete, Rush also boxed and competed in the Golden Gloves Tournament in NYC.

Another Skyhawk Competing in Ivy League
Toba Akinleye (Skyhawk '07) is currently a freshman Defensive Lineman (DL) at Columbia University in NYC. Toba, 6' 3", 210 lbs, is hoping to crack the game rotation with the DL personnel this season for the Lions.
Toba plans to major in Pre-Med at Columbia.
Toba was a two-year starter for the Fort Hamilton HS Tigers and an integral part of their PSAL Championship in 2010.
During the 2011 season, Toba accomplished the following:
- Maintained a 93 academic average
- Named MSG varsity - 1st team-All-City
- Named All-PSAL by Daily News
- NY Daily News - 1st team - All Brooklyn
- Recorded 63 tackles and 16 sacks
- Selected to the 2012 Boomer Esasion Outback Empire All-Star Game (Summer 2012)
At the 2012 Skyhawk Banquet held on Feb. 17th, Toba was named a Skyhawk Heritage Award Winner for his work in the Classroom and on the field.
