Summer Camps

Posted by Beth Johnson at Apr 16, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
We have received requests for information on summer baseball and softball camps. The first place to stop is register.mbll.org to see if we are hosting a local camp. If you want to look outside of MBLL we can help. While Manhattan Beach Little League does not promote any particular camp we are providing the following list of camps as a starting point for your search. West Coast Baseball School Lifeletics Baseball Academy Tom Hicks Baseball Camps LMU Summer Camps USC Baseball Camps UCLA Baseball Camps Contact Hilary Detmold (310) 206-3550 Mr. Baseball Training Camps America's Baseball Camps West Los Angeles County Sports Camps. Total Baseball 430 East Grand Avenue El Segundo, CA 90245 phone: (310) 322-3955 Enjoy the summer and don't forget about our Summer Ball program.
All Manhattan Little League softball players are invited and encouraged to attend a softball doubleheader, or at least the second game, at Loyola Marymount University on Saturday, April 21. The LMU Lions will be taking on Portland State. Game times are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Admission is free. MLL Softball players should wear their uniform tops so everyone will know that MLL softball is there in force to enjoy this great game. For those who love the game and would like to have a fun day of softball in a great environment, you should come to both games. If you can only make one game, then join us for the second game at 1 p.m. The LMU Lions plays their home softball games at Smith Field on campus, just east of the campus entrance at Loyola Blvd. and 80th Street in Westchester (See Facility 4 on attached map and directions). The campus is just 15 minutes from Manhattan Beach. Smith Field is a great place to see a game. It is a fan friendly stadium. There is a large, grassy mound extending from third base to the left field foul pole and we are suggesting that all MLL softball players join us in this grassy area to watch the game. Bring sunscreen and wear a visor or hat as we will be in the sun. There is a snack bar behind home plate, but you may want to bring some water just to be sure you have some on hand. The LMU Lions are a great softball team this season. They have a 30-15 record as of April 1, under the guidance of their Head Coach Gary Ferrin - whose daughter plays softball and son plays baseball in MLL. This is an NCAA Division I Softball program that plays the game at a high level. I am sure our girls will love this experience. Please join us. Directions are attached. Parking is convenient in a large parking lot located on your left as you enter campus on Loyola Blvd. (See Event Parking, Area 8, on attached map). Smith Field is just a short walk East across Loyola Blvd. from the parking lot, past the soccer field. Here is a link to LMU Softball for more information. See you there. Bill von Behren MLL Vice President Softball Division
American Martyrs field must close now to begin preparations for the installation of artificial turf. This is earlier than had been anticipated by the Martyrs School and is completely beyond MBLL control. Managers should check the revised schedules, as many game changes, particularly in California league, involve changes from fields other than American Martyrs. Also, Managers please note that the "Post May 1" practice schedule will be in effect beginning on April 9th....very important! The leagues whose games are affected by this change during the regular season are California, American, and T-Ball.
