Manhattan Beach Baseball Camp - 2007

The Manhattan Beach Little League is offering a baseball camp to develop the skills and the ability of youth baseball players by providing expert instruction of the game, mental awareness, and the ability to function and compete at a high level.
***If your vacation plans prevent you from signing up for a two-week session, your kid can attend one week from one session, and a week from the other. If your child can attend only one week, we will rfund you $100. Just go ahead and sign up and we will make it work.*** The camp will be offered at the following times:

Camp Activities Stretch/Catch: Stretching of the entire body including ply metrics that were devised by a professional trainer and used by college athletes. Catching focuses on proper mechanics to maximize accuracy and velocity. Defense/Pitching: Basic positional drills are emphasized along with proper pitching techniques. Hitting and Running: Hitting and running consists of basic hitting drills focusing on proper hand, head, and foot combination along with batting practice and game situations. Running will involve base running fundamentals. Cost = $225 / 2 week session (8 days, 3 hours/day) * Professional instruction from college coaches with pro baseball backgrounds and current college players * Kids receive a T-shirt along with awards at the end of each session * Gatorade and water will be provided * Awards will consist of 1 glove for the most improved fielder and 1 glove for most improved pitcher per camp session * Awards will also include a bat for the most improved hitter per session * All kids will be required to wear proper baseball attire (cleats, cap, pants for sliding) BIOs Coach Mike Myerchin: Mike is a pitching coach for Harbor College. He graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1976 where he was the South Bay and CIF Player of the Year. He helped lead his team to a 25-5 record and a trip to the CIF championship game. He pitched for Harbor in the 1978 State Championship team before finishing his playing career at California State Dominquez Hills. He was an All Conference selection at both Harbor and CSUDH. He was the head baseball coach at Bishop Montgomery High School (1985-1987) before becoming the pitching coach at Mira Costa (1988-2000), Peninsula (2001-2003), he returned to Mira Costa for the 2004-2006 season. Coach Dane Reichers: Dane is also a Coach at Harbor College. Dane played first base and outfield for Metropolitan State College (1998-2000) in Denver Colorado. He hit .347 in his junior year and .467 in his senior season. His .467 batting average was sixth best in the nation. He set the school’s single season record for hits with 89 and was an All Conference selection twice. Dane still holds fifth in career batting average at .397 and fourth in career doubles with 24 at Metro State. He was the hitting coach at his alma mater in 2001, where his team compiled a batting average of .340. Dane was the head coach at Standley Lake High School (Colorado) for three years taking the junior varsity team to the Final Four in both years and took the varsity team to the state playoffs in his final year. In his first year as the hitting coach at LA Harbor College, he compiled a .325 hitting average as a team, 20% points higher than the previous year.

9 & 10 All Star District 36 Tournament is hosted by El Segundo Little League and will be played at George Brett Field located at 401 Sheldon St. (cross street is Pine Street). Games begin June 30th. 10 & 11 All Star District 36 Tournament is hosted by Rolling Hills Little League and will be played at Dapplegray Elementary School located at 3011 Palos Verdes Drive N, Rolling Hills Estates. Games begin June 30th. 11 & 12 All Star District 36 Tournament is hosted by Manhattan Beach Little League and will be played at the Marine Complex fields located at 1751 Marine Ave. (cross street is Aviation.) Games begin June 30th. Junior League All Star District 36 Tournament is hosted by Hermosa Beach and will be played at Clark Field located (part of Cypress Park) at 901 Valley Drive. Games begin July 6th.
