Financial Help

There are three ways Vancouver Minor Baseball helps families in financial hardship to play baseball, as we do want all the children to play ball.

1) The parent/ Guardian can work off their fee by working in concession during the spring and possibly summer baseball.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           2) The parent can create a VMBA approved payment plan with our registrar (By using post dated checks).

2) The parent can contact;

•       KIDSPORT™:  Google http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/index.php?page=british_columbia_how_to_apply   for the Kidsport Program application process
•        JUMPSTART    Google   http://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/ for more information about this local program.

These organizations will pay VMBA directly. If you are using one of these payment methods, please give our registrar the contact information so she can confirm parent has made the application.

"Payment Policy"

VMBA Payment Policy for Spring/Summer or Fall Baseball Seasons
Fee payment plans must be arranged, or paid for prior to Opening day, or first game played.
If you have not made arrangements with our registrar by then,
with accordance to our constitution, you will become a member not in good standing.
Therefore your child is not eligible to play baseball for VMBA, until the situation has been rectified.
We will, however be happy to work with any family to rectify the situation.

http://plus.allforms.mailjol.net/u/80e3ce64.php

New in 2014 Coaching at VMBA :In order to be selected to coach or manage a team you must first apply to be a coach on our online system. You will be contacted by our program director on how to proceed. Those who have not applied should not proceed on your own with NCCP certification  if you wish to obtain full funding from VMBA.  Please apply online and wait for direction.

CERTIFICATION STATUS:  The following link is a link that pretty much answers all the questions with regards to the new and now required points system  that all coaches will require to maintain their certification status.                                               http://coach.ca/maintenance-of-certification-s16745

Once you have gotten permission from the committee to coach submit all training  receipts to VMBA president Mary McCann flame_1010@hotmail.com

Register For NCCP Clinics  :. All coaches must have documented Initiation status or attend Initiation Clinic. Coaches wishing to coach Summerball may be required to complete the Regional Coaches Clinic. It is preferred by VMBA that all coaches also complete this clinic as well, however it is not mandatory. Again send invoices to Mary McCann  flame_1010@hotmail.com

John Haar Profile

Posted by TONY YEE at Nov 18, 2013 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

B.C. SPORTS HALL OF FAME: Class of 2015 : click here to read more

A three-sport star at the University of British Columbia (UBC), John Haar is the only athlete in the school’s history to have an opportunity to play professionally in three sports. But his father Rudd, who was the head groundskeeper at Vancouver’s Nat Bailey Stadium, instilled a passion for baseball in his son at an early age. Primarily an infielder as a youngster, Haar was converted into an outfielder while toiling in the San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees organizations.

After reaching the Double-A level as a player, Haar embarked on a coaching career that has made him one of the most respected managers in Canadian baseball history. His first high profile assignment came as an assistant with Team Canada in the Pan-American Games in Mexico City in 1975. Impressed with Haar’s work ethic, Team Canada hired the Vancouver native as its manager in 1986. Haar would guide the team to a fifth-place finish in the World Cup that same year.

It was also in 1986 that Baseball Canada established the National Baseball Institute (NBI), which enabled top Canadian players to attend any post-secondary school while practicing and playing together in Vancouver. Haar was the NBI manager for its entire 14-year existence. Matt Stairs and Corey Koskie are among the eight NBI grads that went on to compete in the major leagues. Haar’s defining moment as a coach came in 1991, when he guided the Canadian Junior Team to Baseball Canada’s first and only international gold medal. That team was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992. For his efforts, Haar was named Canada’s Coach of the Year in 1991 and the International Baseball Federation’s top coach in 1992.
