Junior Police defeats Elmwood Sports 6-5

Mongeon powers Junior Police to 6-5 win

Nic Mongeon hit his 4th homer of the season in the 6th inning providing the Junior Police with a 6-5 win over Elmwood Sports on 5/16. Bob Daly pitched 4 strong innings for JP before giving way to Jarett Hurteau in the 5th. Daly also had a key hit in the 6th setting the stage for Nic Mongeon's 2 run 2 out blast.


Cam Moniz pitched brilliant for Elmwood completing 5 innings before  reaching his pitch count. Moniz, Boelter,Sampson,Hayden and Richards led Elmwoods offense.
Junior Police, down by 5-0 after 3 innings scored in the 4th,5th and 6th innings. Daly,Hurteau, Murphy,Ciccetti and Mongeon led the JP offensive attack.

Junior Police raised their record to 6 wins  with 3 loses.

GAME SUMMARY:

 

Elmwood notched its fourth win of the season behind outstanding pitching performances by Travis Sampson and Liam Darcy.  Sampson scattered just two hits, allowing one earned run and recording four strikeouts in four complete innings of superb work.  Liam Darcy pitched extremely well in relief recording two innings of work and allowing no runs, no hits and logging four strikeouts to close out the game picking up his first win of the season.  The first two innings went scoreless as a result solid defense and outstanding pitching by Sampson and Stephen Maybach.  Elmwood opened the scoring in the top of the third with a lead-off walk to Cam Moniz followed by three consecutive doubles by Matt Boelter, Danny Hayden and Matt Gauther, plating three runs.  Wilson’s took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning plating five runs on one hit and four errors in the field by Elmwood.  Josh Moniz provided the fireworks with a deep two-run home run to left-center to get the rally started.  Elmwood responded in the top of the fifth sending eight batters to the plate and scoring three runs on two hits and four walks.  Zach Quarella, Cam Moniz and Matt Boelter drew three consecutive walks setting the table for Hayden and Gauthier.  Hayden singled driving in one run and Gauthier followed with a two-run double plating the go-ahead run.  Liam Darcy came on in relief of Travis Sampson and closed out the game recording four strikeouts over the final two innings and picking up the win.

Dave's Marketplace defeats Printworld 17-2

Dave’s Marketplace’s offense started and finished strong in route to a one-sided 17-2 victory over Printworld this past Wednesday. Alex Smith, Timmy Lynch, and Chris Guenev all got 3 hits a piece, and Peter Webber went 2 for 2 plus 2 walks to lead Dave’s offense. Ryan Smith and John Kearns each got a double for Printworld. Timmy Lynch, Brian Farrell, Ryan Nabb, and Zach Sullivan allowed only 2 hits and struck out 7 for Dave’s over 5 innings.

 Game Summary:  Ryan Gwaltney of Dave’s Marketplace and Danny Hayden of Elmwood Sports both pitched well enough to win, but in the end, Gwaltney had just a little more offensive support in route to an exciting 2-1 victory. Elmwood Sports took an early lead in the 2nd inning on a base hit by Tyler Carter and advanced on an error in the outfield and 2 pass balls.  That solo run turned out to be the only run Elmwood would score, as Ryan Gwaltney was virtually un-hittable the remainder of the game. Kris Richard got Elmwood’s other base hit in the 6th inning but was stranded before scoring ending the game.Dave’s rallied in the 4th inning with a flurry of hits to take the lead 2-1.  Timmy Lynch knocked in the tying run with a base hit, and Ryan Gwaltney helped his own cause with an RBI double. Dave’s 2 runs in the 4th inning were all they were to need for their 6th win against 1 loss.  

 

Nic Mongeon led Junior Police to a 10-7 win on May 12. Bailey's scored early with 3 runs in the first on hits by Dean Striech,Dallin Smith  and Jake Eland. Mongeon went the next 3 innings limiting Bailey's to 2 runs before giving way to a fine relief performance by Cam Lamarre in the 5th. Mongeon unleashed his 3rd homer of the season with a 2 run blast in the bottom of the first. Junior Police scored 3 more runs in the 3rd and 5 in the 4th to seal the victory. Nic Mongeon had 2 hits for JP while Chad Mansolillo,Sam Ostrowski,Tyler Chabot,Matt Murphy and Joey Ciccetti all contributed with hits for the Junior Police who are now 5 wins with 3 loses.
