Town Crier features Cards

Take a look at this weeks Town Crier, which features Sophomore Defenseman Joe Geiser on the front page during the Midview game.  Also,  the newspaper has a story about the team on page 26, with pictures of Senior forward Tyler Buchenic, and Sophomore Defenseman, Nick Carney.

Cards Open GCHSHL play Friday!

The Canfield Cardinals open Greater Cleveland High School Hoockey League action this Friday, Dec 5th,  5:30 p.m. at the Ice Zone against Lorain Midview.  The Cards finished in 5th place this past weekend in the 8th annual Thanksgiving tournament.  Canfield is 3-3 on the season.  Midview went 0-4 in the Rocky River Classic which hosted several white and red division teams.  Midview holds the all time series record edge at 3-1 against the Cardinals. 

The Cards then travel to Gilmour Academy Sunday night to try to avenge an 11-1 thumping against Nordonia.  Nordonia ended the Thanksgiving tournament in 4th place at 2-2.

Joe Geiser and Scott Sittig have provided some fire power to the Cards.  Geiser has 7 goals and an assist in 6 games while Sittig has picked up 3 goals and 4 assists.  Roger Geiser takes an 88% save percentage to the net for the Cards this weekend.

Join us at the Ice Zone this Friday as the Cards open GCHSHL play in the Blue South Division.  Other division opponents the Cards will face this season are Bay Village, Garfield Hts., NDCL, and Orange.

The Canfield developmental team will face Geauga this Saturday at 12:30p.m. and also take on Winterhurst Sunday at 10:15 a.m.  Both games are at the Ice Zone in Boardman.  The team's head coach is Steve Denney, with assistants Chris Williams and John Ferstrom.  Come support our stars of tomorrow!

Canfield Thanksgiving Tournament 2008

(Boardman, Oh)  Greg Revak and Jordan Manke scored shootout goals for Kenston to over take Ursuline/Mooney, 7-6 in a exciting finish to the Canfield Hockey Thanksgiving Tournament at the Ice Zone. Kenston ended undefeated with a 4-0 record, Ursuline/Mooney finished runners-up at 2-2.  Canfield ended the weekend with a victory over Orange to finish 5th and evening their season record at 3-3.  The tourney played host to 7 teams that included Notre Dame Cathedral Latin (3-1,3rd place), Nordonia (2-2, 4th place), Orange 6th (0-4) and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 7th  (0-3).
