The middle school football team lost a tough game against the Northside Lions 43-33. The Vikings were lead by quarterback Zach I, who threw four touchdowns and over 250 yards. Daniel M contributed with two touchdowns, Mac B caught one, and Earving W had a fifty yard touchdown run. Unfortunately, the offense wasn’t enough to stop the Lions as they got a late safety and returned the following kick off to take the lead and seal the win. There were a lot of positives to take away from this fantastic game. Everyone stepped up and played well. The Vikings next game is Oct. 6th and River Oaks Baptist.

The Varsity football team travels to Dallas, Texas tomorrow for their game against Dallas A+ Academy. The Vikings are coming off two gut-wrenching losses at home, but remain focused on this week’s opponent. “The mark of a great player is in his ability to come back. The great champions have all come back from defeat.” Coach Bagot feels like his team is poised to do just that. The team has had a good week of practice in preparation for their game on Friday. The Vikings are hungry for a win.

After Friday’s game, the team will enjoy Saturday’s college football matchup between the Baylor Bears and the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Cowboys Stadium. This trip couldn’t have come at a better time for the Vikings squad.

The Vikings will be back at home next week, as the team is set to play KIPP Northeastern. Kick off for that game is scheduled for 5:00pm on Viking Field. Good luck to our boys this weekend! Go Vikings!

Vikings Support Their Own

On Friday, October 2nd, the entire Village School volleyball program will be traveling to watch one of their own, Lauren Fernandez-Miller, play for her new school. Last Spring, Lauren received an athletic scholarship to St. Thomas University to continue playing the sport she loves. Lauren was a student at The Village School her entire life. She has given countless hours back to The Village School by working volleyball camps, and she still shows up to support the program since she has graduated. As a freshman, Lauren is already a key contributor to the St. Thomas University volleyball team. She is top 10 in her conference in multiple statistical categories. St. Thomas University has had a great start to their season, and Lauren’s excellent play has played an important part in her team’s success.

This Friday will be a special moment for Coach Klausmeyer, the coaching staff, and the entire volleyball program. All of our current players have been positively impacted by Lauren. Some have had the pleasure of being her teammate. Some have had the pleasure of watching her play. Some have had the pleasure of being coached by her at camp. This Friday, when St. Thomas University takes on Our Lady of the Lake, the program will have the opportunity to cheer her on, and show our appreciation for who she is as a person, and appreciate her ability on the court.

Game time is set for Friday, October 2nd, at 6:00pm.

Go Lauren!
