The Varsity football team played their home opener on Saturday against Acadiana Home School from Louisiana. The Vikings wasted no time establishing their identity- run the ball. The Vikings marched down the field on their opening drive, which culminated in a Draylyn D touchdown run to put the Vikings up early. 6-0. The Vikings added two more rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, one by Dami O, and another by Draylyn D to go into the locker room with a 22-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, it was more of the same. The Vikings added two second half touchdowns to increase their lead, 36-0. The defense was dominant from start to finish, only allowing 102 yards of total offense the entire game. Dami O led the team with 8 tackles, including a forced fumble and fumble recovery. The offense was led by Senior RB, Draylyn D’s 127 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dami O also added 93 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns.

The Vikings finished the game with 286 yards rushing. They controlled the tempo, and the clock. They moved the chains and won the battle up front with both their offensive and defensive line. It was a stellar opening performance from this year’s team, which resulted in a 36-6 final score. Way to go Vikings!

The Vikings start their season 1-0! Their next game is Friday, September 4th at East Austin Prep. Kickoff is set for 7PM.

Swim Night Information Recap

Posted by Village School Athletics at Aug 26, 2015 8:10AM PDT

Dear Viking community,

On Tuesday evening, there was a great turnout for the swim program meeting; thank you to all parents that were able to attend. As a recap, and as a reference for interested families that were unable to attend, attached is the handout that was distributed during this meeting. This handout will review all program details, fees, and procedures for the swim season. In addition, there is a section of swim coach biographies so you can get to know the new swim coaching staff better.

The most important thing that should be noted about the swim program is that during the Swim Season (October – February) all participating students MUST be registered and be an active member of a swimming club. Examples of this are Energy Core Swimming, MAC, Katy Aquatics, etc.

For all parents that signed in at either the May swim meeting or the one that occurred last night, your child has been put on the swim program interests list to ensure all future program information is sent to you. As a reminder, this program is only available to current 6th – 12th grade students.

Below are important contacts if you find you have any additional comments and/or questions:

Dustin Embrey – Director of Athletics

Doug Buckalew – Energy Core Swim Head Coach & Village School Swim Coach
