Thanks!

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks to the boys and their families for a great year of hoops. I think that we can all agree that there was a tremendous amount of improvement in each one of the kids. Just a quick note on each of the boys:

Reese – What a stud! Plays hard on defense, is always good for at least two or three steals a game that lead to layups. I love his demeanor and how he works hard and competes to win every time he’s on the court.

Tyler – He’s the guy I asked to guard the toughest offensive player on the other team in every game. I’ll remember his reverse layup in the last regular season game as his move of the year but he was always playing tough D and leading our offense.

Max – What a schedule this kid has! As one of the top runners in the country in his age group, he went through grueling training sessions before many of our games and yet still hustled and played hard whenever he was there. I always love having the Killer Weasel around. Truly, he’s one of the guys I just love to coach.

Jeff – From the beginning of the season where he seemed a bit reluctant to shoot to the end where he was a much more confident player and seemed to really like playing, I thought Jeff did a great job all year. He had some big games on the offensive side and defensively, he was tough on the other kids all year long. I really liked getting to know him.

Alex – What a good kid! Always hustled and tried hard and I loved the shots he took in the last game. I don’t think I saw him mad all year long and he was always working to do his very best on the court. It was a highlight of the season for me to see each of his baskets go down this year! The Burr twins are great kids and were a big part of our team all year long.

Roy – Again, what a stud! Drives hard to the basket, knows how to play the game and like I told him yesterday, he’s tenacious. He had a great attitude, obviously loves basketball and will thrive at it for years to come. He’s a great teammate and a joy to coach.

Will – Really came alive this year. He’s become so much more aggressive and really wants the ball. I loved his aggressive play this year and the fact that he wants to shut down the other team on defense and wants the ball on offense. I love to coach Will and I think he can be a really good player for as long as he wants to be…

Thanks to all of the parents this year. Obviously our record didn’t put us in the top of the league but your support of the kids and lack of criticism of the coach (at least I think!) was very appreciated. They’re a great group of kids and you a have a lot to proud of with them for what they do on the court but more importantly for the types of kids they are off the court….

Thanks again for a fun year….

Can we all do practice this Thursday at 4pm at American Martyrs? I’d like to move the practice time up by an hour to accommodate baseball and soccer but to make sure that we get some good practice in in anticipation of facing Team Sevy at 12 on Saturday…Look forward to seeing you all there…

Reminder - No Practice Tomorrow

Posted by Jeff Proctor at Mar 11, 2009 10:16PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hey all-
Just a reminder that there is no practice tomorrow…Although I had suggested a Saturday morning practice, it looks like that might be tough as most of us aren’t available. I will plan on being at the game at a bit early on Saturday so try to get there early for the 7pm game and we’ll go over some offense. This is our last regular season game so we will definitely have a practice next week….Rest up and see you there Saturday.
