Inter Wins Over Sterling

Posted by Alan Olson at Jun 1, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
2 Jun. '03. On a very windy and cold day, and on a bad, clumpy field, Inter again played superb team soccer and moved the ball well up and down the field. The first goal in the 1st half came off a free kick from 25 yards out to the right by Skylar, and with a little help from the wind it sailed high into the net over the keeper. Sterling also benefited from a free kick but into the wind and it too went high into the net over Rob's outstretched hands as he attempted to punch it out. In the second half, Sam made a fine run and shot a nice strike from the left. Sterling came back to tie with another free kick which was caught by Rob, but as he fell to the ground the ball came out and rolled to a Sterling player nearby who tapped it in. However, with just 3 minutes left, another free kick was awarded to Inter about 25-28 yards out to the center, and again, with a little help from the wind, Skylar booted it high into right side of the net over the keeper. End of a well played contest , 3-2.

Inter Wins 1st D1 Match Over Titans

1 Jun. '03. In a match between two teams who needed a W to help survive in D1, Inter played with purpose and moved the ball extremely well up and down the field, and managed to put the ball in the net three times in the first half. The second half was won by the Titans, whose spirited defense shutdown Inter with their offense striking early in the 2nd half. But, Inter's stingy defense rose to the occasion and stymied the valiant Titans to end the match in a 3-1 victory.

Inter Falls to the Cyclones

Posted by Alan Olson at May 17, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
18 May '03. Inter could not finish a goal with 8 shots on goal to 5 SOG's by the Cyclones on a wet but well drained SoccerPlex field -- although the goal mouths were muddy/puddled. Both defeneses played with fierce determination in a tightly contested match but the Cyclones managed to penetrate IB's defense on the left side in the last minute of the 1st half and struck a strong shot to the goal. Rob layed out to his right and grabbed/stopped the wet ball but it unluckily slipped off of his gloves onto the ground in front center of goal line where it was tapped in by a nearby Cyclones player. Rob made an outstanding save in the 2nd half but IB's offense simply could not put the ball in the net. Congratulations to the Cyclones for a well-earned win!

Inter Falls to RFC '91

12 May '03. In another tight match between two stubborn and determined defenses, IB could not find the back of the net despite a golden opportuntiy PK in the 2nd half that went hight off the cross bar. RFC '91 struck early in the 1st half with a nice 20+ yd. DK shot from the left side with the strong wind that went high over the GK's outstretched hands into the top of the right side of the net. IB manufactured several corner cross situations to no avail and played in RFC's goal area with frequent shots on goal which went wide or were deflected by RFC's fine defense. Congratulations to RFC '91 for a great win!
