Bethesda Internationals

6 Apr. 03. In it's 1st Div. 1 game against a strong BAYS 92 Premiere team on a sunny but cool/windy day, IB managed to move the ball up the field well but could not find the back of the net in numerous scoring opportunities. The BAYS were able to penetrate IB's defense on several occasions but missed their goal attempts as well, and the hard-fought game ended in a scoreless tie.

23 Mar. 03. Due to rain/soggy fields and closure of other fields, the PWSI games were shortened to 30-minutes and no halftime. As several key defensive players were absent, IB utilized four guest players and was succesful in shutting out its first two opponents, SWYA Comets (1-0) and GRFL Renegades (2-0) and giving up just one goal in the 3rd game against FC Bucks Dynamo (1-1) to advance to the final to face formidable MSC United. But, in the full-length, 60-minute championship match, MSC United's offense was able to penetrate IB's patchwork defense five times (including 1 PK and a 22+ yd. strike), and its defense stymied IB's offense, allowing no goals. Congratulations to MSC United for a well-earned victory!

16 Mar. 03. Inter Bethesda played (4) tough games against some very good teams in the Premier division of the prestigious Jefferson Cup tournament (Premier division)in Richmond, VA, 15-16 Mar. '03. In the Semi-Final game against Beach FC (Storm), the match remained scoreless after regulation and 2 x 5 minute OT periods, but IB won the PK shootout, 4-2; and, in the final/championship game IB edged a valiant RFC '91 team with a 2-1 victory.

1 Mar. 03. Inter Bethesda participated in the ASA-Sidwell Friends School Winter Indoor league, 4 Jan. - 1 Mar. 2003, with two squads, Blue and White. In a thrilling, regular match, IB White prevailed, 7-5. Both squads made it to the championship game and played another exciting contest, and this time IB Blue prevailed to win the championship, 9-5.

28 Dec. 02. IB participated in the Discovery Sports Center Winter Indoor Session I (16 Nov. - 28 Dec. 2002). The BETH Roadrunners entered two teams (Mad Skillz and Wild Skillz), while other teams included U12/MSC teams Fusion and Panthers, and U12/OLNY Dynamite. IB could not compete effectively against the two Skillz teams to earn any victory in three games, but did compete well against the other teams to win four games. IB ended up in 3rd Place with a 4-3 (32:20) record, while Mad Skillz and Wild Skillz earned 1st Place and 2nd Place, with 7-0 (65:23) and 5-2 (51:20) records, respectively.
