Clearview rally falls short as HLV holds on

HLV built a 5-2 lead and held off a fast charging Clearview squad in winning 5-4 in Tier II playoff action in Pennsauken. The teams traded goals in the first period with Matt Kilkenny giving HLV a 1-0 lead early and Eli Howey tying the game for Clearview late in the period. HLV took control in the second period getting goals from Ryan LaSalvia and Matthew Savvas on the power play and took a 3-1 lead into the third period.

An early goal by Sam Mohnacs have HLV leading 4-1, but a two-man advantage on the power play got Clearview to within 4-2 as Nick Pirotta got the goal for the View. Kyle Peters would score right off the center ice draw as HLV struck back and led 5-2. Goals by Mike Defelice and Christopher Geary thirty five seconds apart in the last ninety seconds had the View to within 5-4 but they could not get the equalizer.

Club Meeting Feb 15th 2018 8PM

Coaches, Parents and Players,

Greetings to everyone, I hope you are well.

Good Luck to the Varsity boys tomorrow night in their quest to run out the winners bracket throughout the playoffs and Good Luck to the JV boys as they continue to battle for a playoff spot the next couple weeks.

PICTURES- will take place this Wednesday and next Wednesday 8pm in the party room.

PLEASE BRING BOTH JERSEYS

There will not be an on-ice team picture this year. We will take a team picture at the banquet.

CLUB MEETING- This Thursday Feb. 15th 8pm Igloo, agenda will include swearing in new board members.

(Board meeting at 7pm prior to club meeting)

Topics in the works for the next week or so- Banquet, Spring Season and remaining practice schedlue. Stay tuned for forthcoming information.

Matt Kilkenny scored three goals and added two assists and Kyle Peters added two goals and two assists as HLV used a six goal first period and went on to defeat Riverfront 10-3 in Tier II action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The teams would combine for eight goals in a wild first period, with six coming in the first six minutes. Peters and Kevin Yang scored goals in the first two minutes as HLV led 2-0. Daniel Taylor would get Riverfront on the board at the four minute mark, but goals by Kilkenny and Zachary Stoor ninety seconds apart had the lead to 4-1.

Gavin Dierkhising cut the lead to 4-2 at the six minute mark but goals by Peters and Kilkenny had the lead to 6-2 after one. HLV pulled away in the second period scoring three unanswered goals, Matt Savvas and Bryan Knaust scored twenty one seconds apart to make it 8-2 and a power play goal by Kilkenny at the five minute mark had HLV firmly in the lead at 9-2. Samuel Swain and Alex Mayernik traded power play goals in the third period for the 10-3 final.

HLV scores twice in 3rd to edge Clearview

HLV trailed 4-3 after two periods but scored twice in the third period to edge Clearview 5-4 in Tier II action in Voorhees. Matthew Saavas scored two goals to lead HLV. The two teams battled each period as HLV took a 3-0 lead in the first on two goals by Saavas sandwiched around a power play goal by Bryan Knaust. The second period belonged to Clearview as they would put up a four spot to take a 4-3 lead after two. Clearview would take advantage of three penalties scoring on all three opportunities. After Colin Hughes scored an unassisted goal two minutes in, power play goals by Mike Difelice, Luc Froio and Chase Dyar gave the View the 4-3 lead.

Midway through the third period Patrick Hoffman would get the equalizer as he scored his second of the season to tie the game at 4-4. HLV stayed out of the penalty box in the third period and it was Clearview committing a penalty in the final two minutes they gave HLV a power play and Kyle Peters would score his team high 13th goal to give HLV the win. With the victory HLV improved to 10-2 on the season and moved into a tie for first with Cherry Hill East.

5 Goal 3rd Period leads HLV over Riverfront

Ryan Lasalvia had a hat trick as seven different players scored as HLV rolled over Riverfront 9-1. HLV would score five goals in the third period to break the game open. Riverfront actually led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Brennan McCarty, his second of the season. Early in the second period, Lasalvia would tie the game at 1-1 scoring on the power play. Matt Saavas would give HLV the lead for good three minutes later notching his fifth of the year. Kyle Peters would get his team leading 12th goal at the six minute mark and Lasalvia added another power play goal late in the period and HLV led 4-1 after two.

Goals by Samuel Mohncas and Bryan Knaust two minutes apart had the lead to 6-1 midway through the period. HLV would get goals from Patrick Hoffman, Samuel Swain and Lasalvia to complete his hat trick to close out the scoring.
