Matt Savvas scored two goals, including the game winner with thirty eight seconds left as HLV upset top seed Clearview 5-3 in opening round action in Voorhees. HLV jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Savvas and Sam Mohnacs. The View would respond in the second period getting goals from Cole and Chase Dyar and we entered the third period tied at 2-2. Ryan Lasalvia, who also scored twice, gave HLV a 3-2 lead at the seven minute mark, but the View would rally with ninety seconds left as Robert Penrod got the tying goal. Less than one minute later Savvas got the game winner and the HLV bench went crazy. Lasalvia added an empty net goal at the end.

HLV rolls on as they beat Shawnee
Mr. Ice Hockey posted on February 20, 2017 22:32
Ryan Lasalvia and Patrick Hoffman each scored two goals as HLV defeated Shawnee 7-2 and have gone through the tournament undefeated at 3-0 and will now await the winner from the losers’ bracket. Having just won 6 games all season HLV has caught fire at the right time. Averaging less than three goals during the regular season, HLV is averaging five goals in their three wins and during the regular season they would give up an average of five goals per game but in the playoffs in three games have surrendered a total of just five goals. Matt Saavas got things going for HLV scoring at the seven minute mark to put them up 1-0. Ryley Bergeson would tie the game at 1-1 for Shawnee scoring on the power play just over two minutes later.

Goals by Alec Warner and Lasalvia late in the period gave HLV the lead for good at 3-1. Nick DelPrato scored in the opening two minutes to push the lead to 4-1 before Cody Charyk would score short-handed to cut the deficit to 4-2. Lasalvia would make it 5-2 in the final seconds of the period and HLV was in control. Two power play goals by Hoffman in the third period closed out the scoring and HLV moves on.
