NRWBL Players Code of Conduct Unacceptable

Posted by Darren Luzon at Jun 13, 2011 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
AP- "It is with great sadness that I must put out the following statement related to the behavior and conduct of several NRWBL players. It should be considered a privelege, not a right to be in this league. There is a wait list for new players, so anyone can be replaced at anytime by the Board. There have been several recent events where unnamed NRWBL players have been involved with conduct detrimental to the league. One event involved the below picture where a vehicle left the scene of a crime after running someone over(partially true) after a non sanctioned NRWBL event. Let this be a final warning to ALL players, you could face suspension up to and including a lifetime ban if you do not uphold the standards that will be put forth in the rules for the next season. Diary of an Idiot

Posted by Darren Luzon at Mar 28, 2011 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

As being a member of the NR Community for over 30 years I thought it would be appropriate to share my thoughts on some of the feeder programs for NR Baseball.  I was reently informed that my youngest daughter would be on the Kings in the Roberto Clement Division - let me share the email I received:

"28 degrees out - must be time for Baseball ! Welcome back !  We are The Kings - Roberto Clemente Team #4 Nice bright orange jerseys so we don't lose anyone. 1st game is this Monday (4/4) at 6:30pm at JH2  (Jacobsen House 2).  The games are Saturday mornings at 10:45am and Monday evenings at 6:30pm.  Some information and rule changes that I wanted everyone to be aware of as the kids have moved up a level.  League bats only.  (we have a foam bat and 2 wood bats - more pop with wood then aluminum anyway) We must hit off the tee.  No pitching yet. We practice for 30 minutes and play a 3 inning game.  So - for Monday - be there at 6:30pm (game starts at 7pm).  You bat around the order regardless of the number of outs. (same as Babe Ruth last year)In case of a rainout, there are no make up games in our division.  (the Roberto Clemente Division)No more grand slam home runs by the last child to hit in the inning.  Bah hum bug that one.Help from the parents is always welcome.  Please pick up your packets, jerseys, etc. Tuesday, Wed, or Thurs after 6pm at my house (1 Indian Drive, Stony Point)(Jeff B, Greg B, and Darren L - I'll bring your stuff Wed night to Kirkbride) Give me a call or shoot me a text if you having any questions. ThanksMike  "

Now, my issue is specifically with the comment "Bah humbug that one".  Number one who says that?  Number two that is exactly wrong with society and sports today.  I am sick and tired of the everybody is a winner attitude (unless you are Charlie Sheen).  This country is going to crap because of this.  Herman Edwards had it right "You play to win the game!!"  If you lose too bad, go home, practice and get better.  Losing sucks and if you dont like it, win the next game and you wont feel that way.  If you dont like it, dont play, go home and sit on your couch and play with your DS.  Middle school sports, there are no winners, everybody gets fair playing time.  In this specific league, 50% of those kids will never even play little league - weed them out now - dont encourage them by you get to hit a homerun if you are the last batter, that only causes fighting by the kids to get up last (but Im sure that has to be done fairly as well so the kids dont cry).  You want to hit a homerun, go up there swing out of your shoes and hit one over the fence or past all the other players and RUN around the bases.  Nothing will ever beat that feeling.  See everyone on Weds

Sincerely,

Commissioner Kennessaw Mountain Luzon
