RJW 2011/2012 Newsletter #1

Posted by David Gerdner at Oct 29, 2011 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Attention Wrestlers!

Reminder that practices for all wrestlers begin onTuesday, November 15 in Gym 2 at Ridgewood High School.  We will soon be scheduling a parents meeting; so please be on the lookout for that.

Now is probably a good time to review a few notes bout practices.  All of this can also be found on our web site (www.ridgewoodwrestling.org) under the FAQ section:

What time is practice?
  • Elementary School kids = 6:30pm to 7:45pm
  • Middle School kids = 7:45pm to 9:15pm
* Arrive 10 minutes early so you have your shoes on and are ready to go! *
Can parents stay and watch?
Absolutely.  We do not, however, allow other children in the gym during practice.  At meets and tournaments we love to have siblings, aunts, uncles and anybody else come cheer us on.  But at practice other kids can be a distraction, a safety hazard, and a risk to our insurance.
What to bring to practice
All wrestlers need the following equipment that is NOT supplied by RJW:
  • Headgear
  • Clean wrestling boots
  • Well-clipped fingernails!!!!!!!
  • T-Shirt & sweats or shorts
  • Water bottle
Note – Do not bring chewing gum, jewelry, or loose fitting clothes.
Headgear and Wrestling Shoes
  • Our policy is to wear headgear during practice and in competition.   We ask each wrestler to purchase their own, put their name in it and be sure to bring it with them at all times.    Headgear and wrestling boots are available at nearly any sporting goods store.
  •  All wrestlers need a pair of wrestling boots that are used only for wrestling.  Please don’t wear your wrestling shoes to practice as they will bring dirt, snow, etc onto the mats.  Change into them in the gym.

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to send an email to me.
