Both teams brought an army of players to this Battle, which in the end would remain deadlocked 1-1 at Sportsmans Field in Bedford yesterday. Lexington would need an army as three of their players were carried off the field at different times throughout the match. DEA had just about two full lines of players, which seemed to hurt them, as it was tough to get any rhythm going. Lexington would strike first in this one, as the referee would award a weak PK call to Lexington. As Lexington lined up to take the PK, Paul Cote, had a disagreement with a Lexington player which landed the Lexington player on his rear. The two players ironed it out and play continued. DEA will be working with Cote on his sandbox behavior. Lexington scored the PK and was up 1-0. This seemed to spark DEA as they would start to possess the ball more. Johnnie Guild would blast a shot off the keeper that would deflect right to the feet of Bill Jean. Billy would knot the score as he would hammer the deflected ball into the upper net. The first half would end 1-1. The second half would see the play go back and forth until, once again John Guild would ring a shot off the keeper that would deflect to brother Jeff this time. Jeff Guild would finish nicely to put DEA up by one. Lexington would be saved by the referee, however, as he claimed that Jeff was offsides. Terrible call. The game would come to an end soon after with Lexington escaping with a tie. Bill Jean and the Brothers Guild had a good game up top. Jim McCall and John Valickus played very strong in the midfield and the DEA Defense lead by Mitch Green and Ray Luscinski did an excellent job of shutting out the Lexington attackers. Jim Goddard played strong between the pipes for DEA and should have had the shutout if not for the weak PK call. Next Sunday, DEA travels to Amesbury Sports Park to take on Northshore United Soccer Club at 9:00 AM. Remember that this is a turf field so wear appropriate boots. Firm ground cleats and turf shoes are acceptable. Watch for emails for directions.
A much improved DEA Bedford Masters team opened the 2005 Fall season with a crushing victory over the team from Weston. DEA signed many of the Bedford Blast players over the summer and showed up with a full squad. The game started slow with both teams testing the waters. Bedford was trying to get a handle on all the new players, not being used to having subs for an away game. In addition, Nick Masci, a new DEA standout, got hurt and DEA lost some strong mid-field control. Weston would actually score first about midway through the first half. Bedford saw some good chances but was kept off the board untill halftime. After a strategic half time talk and some realignment of some personell, DEA came out on fire. Nick would return from his injury along with a full Bedford Blast lineup with the addition of Paul Cote at Defense. This lineup seemed to click as DEA would pound in seven unanswered goals much to the dismay of the Weston fans. Nick would begin things as he would drive to the corner, cut and make a nice pass back to Jim McCall. McCall would score the first DEA goal of the Fall, placing it into the corner. Next, Bill Jean hits a nice cross to John Guild, fresh up from the DEA over 30 team, and Johnnie would put it away. John Guild then returns the favor with a pass to George Wegricht who finishes nicely, after having several good head ball chances earlier. George then gives a through pass to Stan Wisniewski, who was finely not caught off sides. Stan beat the keeper for DEA's 4th goal. They were on a romp. Weston was in full retreat at this point, and DEA was decidedly not going to let up. Things needed to be reconciled. John Guild connected with brother Jeff who stuck a strong shot in. DEA 5-1. George hit a through ball behind the D with Jim McCall running past to one time past the goalie. DEA 6-1. Doug Wolfe would find Jeff Guild with a nice pass. Jeff would hit a screamer that strikes just under the cross bar to completely deflate the Weston team. Jeff's second of the day. Jim Kellogg played a great game in goal, having been prepped by the team manager (Dale - prior to coming) for that position. Net result DEA = 7 Weston = 1 A Great start for DEA. Next week DEA is off for Labor day and then its back home to take on the Lexington Eagles on 9/11 at 10:30 AM at Sportsmans Field... Great Win DEA.

DEA Masters Working to Finalize Roster

Posted by Dale Dubois at Aug 8, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The DEA Bedford Masters will open the Fall 2005 season August 28th at 9:00 AM on the road against Weston, MA at Weston Middle School. DEA management has finallized a deal with the Bedford Blast that will send most of the Blast players to DEA for the Fall. The details of this transaction were not available at this time. However, it is said to involve numerous players, large quantities of beer, and a blow up doll. DEA will have a very strong squad this fall and there will be no excuse for not winning the division and moving up in the spring. DEA will wear the same long sleeve White uniforms as in the spring. Management is looking to purchase some smaller sizes for those who don't wear an XL. Schedule is on the league web site at http://www.othsl.org/cgi-bin/socman.pl?UID=1123603003&LDN=m7n. Maps and directions are on this site under 'locations'. Print out the emails for a list of team members cell phones in case you get lost. Hopefully all are in shape and ready to go. Don't forget to bring your ID to check in.
The DEA Bedford Masters is clearly the best team in this division. Even if the league wants to inforce this lame excuse for a rule regarding a 44 year old player playing in an over 30 division. As we all know by now the league has forced our over 40 team to forfeit all the games that Dale played in because he also played for the affiliated over 30 team. This would seem to be a problem if Dale was actually under 40 years old, but he isnt. He is 44. So if the JACKASS that signed our guest book has a problem with that, it is just too bad. He obviously plays on a team that supports such a stupid rule, probably why they are still in division 7 and will always be. Good season to DEA Bedford Masters. A classy bunch of guys that will win the division in the fall.

DEA Spanks Weston in the Heat 3-1

Posted by Dale Dubois at Jun 6, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
A sunny 90 degree day is not the time to show up short handed. This is what Weston realized early on as Bedford handed them a 3-1 loss that could have been much worse. Weston is actually more talented than their record suggests. However, the heat and the lack of players took an early toll. Stan Wisniewski got things going for DEA as he would head home a Jim McCall cross for Bedford's first goal. Stan finally showed off his skills now that Maria and his son were on the sideline. Weston would have a few chances in the first half as their speedy striker would break through the Bedford defense. Eric Burger made a few great saves to keep it 1-0 going into the half. The second half was be all DEA as the heat would really become a factor to Weston. Bedford dinged a bunch of shots off the posts and high and wide. Sean Kelly would find the net for DEA as he ripped a screamer from 25 yards that beat the Weston net minder. Bruce Walsh, another product of the Pacer organization, would be credited with the assist. Weston would get on the board, however as mix up would allow a shot to elude Burger in the DEA net. Shortly later, however, it was lights out as David Poole was hauled down in the area and awarded a PK. David would net the PK, beating the keeper to the right and finishing the scoring at 3-1 for the good guys. Great win that keeps DEA in pace with Wayland for the top spot. The last regular season game is this Sunday in Westford against the Grey Goats II. Game Time is 9:00 AM in Westford. This is a must win for Bedford in their quest for Division 6.
