DEA Spanks Weston in the Heat 3-1

Posted by Dale Dubois on Jun 06 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
A sunny 90 degree day is not the time to show up short handed. This is what Weston realized early on as Bedford handed them a 3-1 loss that could have been much worse. Weston is actually more talented than their record suggests. However, the heat and the lack of players took an early toll. Stan Wisniewski got things going for DEA as he would head home a Jim McCall cross for Bedford's first goal. Stan finally showed off his skills now that Maria and his son were on the sideline. Weston would have a few chances in the first half as their speedy striker would break through the Bedford defense. Eric Burger made a few great saves to keep it 1-0 going into the half. The second half was be all DEA as the heat would really become a factor to Weston. Bedford dinged a bunch of shots off the posts and high and wide. Sean Kelly would find the net for DEA as he ripped a screamer from 25 yards that beat the Weston net minder. Bruce Walsh, another product of the Pacer organization, would be credited with the assist. Weston would get on the board, however as mix up would allow a shot to elude Burger in the DEA net. Shortly later, however, it was lights out as David Poole was hauled down in the area and awarded a PK. David would net the PK, beating the keeper to the right and finishing the scoring at 3-1 for the good guys. Great win that keeps DEA in pace with Wayland for the top spot. The last regular season game is this Sunday in Westford against the Grey Goats II. Game Time is 9:00 AM in Westford. This is a must win for Bedford in their quest for Division 6.
