Individual Player Showcase Entries

Posted by Ron Piazza at Jan 14, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The TRADITION Individual Showcase will be held Friday, July 15th, before the Showcase Tournament begins. Registered players will be added to this section shortly so you may check for your name. YOU ARE CURRENTLY PAST THE DEADLINE BUT MAY STILL ENTER FOR A $25 LATE FEE added to your entry. There will be an infielder and outfielder session, and a pitcher and catcher session. Each year, we try and improve this event. Last year we had more than 100 girls participating. We plan again to use fields 4 and 6 which are back-to-back so that the college coaches are able to watch the fielding and hitting from one position. You will receive a number that will match the College Coaches book that we print with your information from your registration form. This enables the coaches to watch, take notes and have the information to contact you. Our infield-outfield showcase is run in groups with each group taking a complete pre-game, working forehands, backhands, double plays, balls in the gap, cutoffs, etc. Our pitchers and catchers run through five stations with a chance to demonstrate different pitches at each station as well as timing for pitchers and catchers. Please download the form on the Showcase Directions page(Microsoft Word Format). It is on the bottom of the page with the tournament registration forms. fill it out and return to TRADITION by June 17, 2005. There is a $25 late fee for entries after that time because of supplies that must be ordered long before the Showcase is held. Thank you in advance for your assistance and promptness. There are also directions to Pragemann Park located for download there. Players will be able to showcase at more than one position because times will be staggered. Check the registration form for information. Cost of the Showcase is $70. You may Showcase at two positions for $100. For example, a firstbaseman and pitcher may showcase at both positions because those events will be held at different times.

TRADITION College Showcase 2005

Posted by Ron Piazza at Oct 30, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The 2005 version of our college showcase promises to be better than ever. Our six field complex has been upgraded to include five lighted fields. We are sold out for 2005 with 44 teams, 16 in 18u and 28 in 16u. Last year we had over 40 college coaches attend the event. An individual player showcase will also be held where players will be showcased in infield/outfield groups of seven players. Pitchers and catchers will also have their own time. This year, infielders and outfielders will showcase on groundballs, doubleplays, fly balls, cutoffs, etc while catchers will be timed on throws to secondbase and fielding bunts. Pitchers will move through five stations showcasing their pitches. Hitting and baserunning times will also be done. We provide a scouting book to the college coaches with corresponding numbers pinned to players. Registration forms will be posted soon on our website.

TRADITION 18U/16U Begin Summer Games

Posted by Ron Piazza at Jun 27, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The 2004 version of TRADITION Softball got off to a fast start this summer. The TRADITION 18u team won the PONY National Qualifier in Danbury, CT, and the TRADITION 16u team captured the ASA State Championship held in Milford, CT. Pitching was strong for both teams. TRADITION 18u got a one-hitter from Natalie Volpe in the championship game, a 2-1 win over FSA Tradition. Volpe and Amanda DeMatteo both threw no-hitters as the team won all six games in the tournament. TRADITION 16u got a perfect game from April Ghiroli in the opener of the state tournament. Nicole Davenport pitched the championship game, a 4-1 victory over the Stratford Seahawks.image
