Showcase 2004 Thanks and Results

Posted by Ron Piazza on Jul 16 2003 at 05:00PM PDT
The TRADITION family would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2004 event a huge success. There were 100 players on hand on Friday morning to attend the individual showcase in front of many college coaches. Over the weekend, over 40 college coaches attended. We appreciate all the college coaches who took the time to come out and take a look at new recruits. The players and parents on hand for the individual showcase were outstanding. Thanks for all the effort, the kind words and manners. The tournament was a success because of the help from all the parents who volunteered their time. The fields were kept up and the concession stand ran smoothly throughout the event of 103 games at one location. Congratulations to the Connecticut Charmers who defeated the Long Island Riptide in the 16u finals. The Massachusetts Polar Crush won the 18u championship with a 5-2 win over TRADITION in a rain shortened three-inning final. The quality of softball all weekend was outstanding. Thank you to Wallingford Recreation Director John Gawlak and Henry McCully and Joe Dacanto of Public Works for their efforts with helping us out at the Pragemann Park facility. Email us if you are interested in coming back to the event next year so we send you information first before opening up the tournament to everyone for 2005. TRADITION Showcase 2004 is full at 42 teams from six states. A new standard as the tournament field is complete by January 8, 2004. Thank you everyone. Stay tuned College Coaches. INDIVIDUAL SHOWCASE PLAYER FORM FOUND ON Showcase Reg. Form Menu Page TRADITION Showcase 2004 promises to be bigger and better than last year with more college coaches, more quality teams and upgrades in all areas. Like everyone else, we learned from our first year at the Pragemann Park complex and will do our best to prevent Murphy's Law from striking. This is our 28th year of running tournaments and you can count on us to have a fun time. Check the Showcase Reg. Form page for handouts and forms for directions, hotels and registration form. Every effort will be made to give you a reasonable and fair schedule to be seen by college coaches in attendance. Effort will also be made to give desired time slots to teams that register early. The number one desire of teams attending this tournament is to have the opportunity for college coaches in the Northeast to see them play. However, there will also be opportunity for every team to earn a tournament championship. Teams playing Friday night will have no early game on Saturday. Teams not playing Friday night will have 8am Saturday time slot for their first of three games. We will try not to play all games back-to-back to give college coaches a better chance to see you play. THERE WILL BE AN INDIVIDUAL SHOWCASE on Friday afternoon between Noon and 3 pm. Invitations have gone out recently to college coaches and they are coming back steadily. Coaches will be posted on the College Coaches Page.
