Emily won the golden puck award in game 2 of the Victoria Classic New Year’s tournament.
Well done ✅

The Victoria Icehawks (C3) opened round robin play in the VMHA Peewee New Year’s Classic Tournament for 2016 with a hard fought, 4-3 victory over the Saanich Braves (C2). Isaiah Adisi scored late in the third period, his 2nd goal of the contest, to send the Icehawks and their delirious fans, to victory.

The contest featured two evenly matched teams, with perhaps a slight edge going to the Icehawks and their outstanding goaltender, Lucas Clark. Clark repeatedly denied the Braves attack, kicking out his pads and flashing serious leather with several glorious, glove saves. He was awarded the game MVP for good reason.

Tomi Cram provided additional inspiration to the Icehawks victory with his tenacity and speed on the blueline. Tomi and Keeley Wilson formed a shutdown defensive pair that gave the Braves attack fits and probably a sleepless night.

Also pacing the Icehawks attack were goals from Charles Gosselin and Kaleb Manton. Manton’s goal started the Icehawks comeback late in the second period.

After falling behind on 3 Brave goals in exactly 2 minutes, Macrae Sarrazin tore down the left side and feathered a perfect pass on the tape to Manton, who was in full stride. Kaleb made no mistake, faking the goaltender and burying his shot.

The Icehawks continue tournament play on Friday with games against Peninsula and Juan de Fuca.
