On February 29th, the high school golf team took a giant LEAP forward and won the TAPPS 4A Preview Golf Tournament. This tournament was the first tournament of the year for the Vikings. It also happens to be the same course that the State Tournament will be played on in early May. This will certainly give our team confidence as they hope to become the first golf team in Viking history to qualify for the State Tournament. The Vikings brought 4 of their Varsity boys golfers and had 3 of the top 4 finishers in the tournament. Senior, Ross B, won the tournament while shooting 81. Newcomer to Village, and Junior, Daniel P, took 2nd place in a playoff after shooting 84. Senior, Fraser K, who also competed in the playoff, shot 84 as well. The team was capped off with the contribution of Junior, Peter W, who clinched the Viking victory after he turned in his final scorecard.

The day also featured one of our Varsity girl golfers, Mariana O, who qualified for State last year as a sophomore. Mariana had a great opening round of her season, and finished in 2nd place overall! Great job!

The Vikings are back in action this Monday, as they travel to Quail Valley Golf Course to compete in the St. Thomas Episcopal Golf Tournament. Good luck and Go Vikings!
