Cougars win 7 titles in regional, boys take second overall

2A Metro Regional Championship @ Valley Christian High School Micah Kuiper, Matt Kredit, Mark Robinson, Megan Van Hofwegen, Brant Frazee and Thomas Ness won individual titles and the boys team placed 2nd overall for the 2nd staight year as the Cougars shine at the 2A metro track & field championships. Kuiper, rated one of the regions best all year, won the high jump. Matt Kredit won the hurles. He also placed in the 100 & 200 and qualified for state in those events also. Megan VanHofwagen was a double region champ winning the girls 400 & 200. Megan also qualified in the 100 meters. Brant Frazee won the 1500 and Ness the 3200. Also qualifying in individual events were Paul Bell (1500 & 3200) and Alex Anderson (400). Ness is also a qualifier in the 800 & 1500. All three, along with Robinson are members of the top ranked 4x800 relay team that is also state bound. The team also did well in the relays. The 4x800 team of Nick Fitzpatrick, Anderson, Matt Williams and Daniel Erickson placed 2nd in the regionals. In 4x100, the team of Charlie DeGeronimo, Jordan Mitchell, Mike Stahl and Matt Kredit qualified for state with a 3rd place finish. The 4x400 relay of DeGeronimo, Anderson, Stahl and Robinson also qualified with a third place finish. In a dramatic display of teamwork, the girls 4x400 team of Laura Burns, Kristen Shook, Alex Cisco and Van Hofwegen also qualified for state. imageimage
