Evaluation Procedure

Posted by Scott latta on Feb 08 2008 at 04:00PM PST

Players must attend the hitting evaluations and the fielding evaluations to be considered for the competitive traveling teams. If a player chooses not to come to evaluations he will automatically be drafted on an in-house team.

Players must attend or will be attending CRHS in order to play in the Traveling League. 15 yrs old players must have tried out for the CRHS 9th grade team to be considered for a roster spot on a team.

Hitting Evaluations are done in a batting cage and players hit 10-12 balls, bunting 3 and swinging at the rest.

Fielding Evaluations are held outside. Players will field fly balls in the outfield, hitting the cut off with their throw. They then move to an infield position and field ground balls, throwing to a base.

The categories are bunting, hitting, field/throw outfield, field/throw infield.  Players are rated on a 1-5 system (5 being the best) for a total of 30. Players are then ranked by their total score.

DRAFT PROCEDURE:

Once the evaluations are completed, the evaluation sheets are collected and tallied up, all players are ranked by their total score.  The traveling coaches then draft their team taking turns chosing 1 player at a time.

The competitive traveling league fields 2 – 13A, 1-14A, 1-14B, 1-15A, and 1-15B teams draft first.

Once these teams are formed, our in-house teams are then drafted with the remaining players.

IF we do not have a coach for an inhouse team and after repeated attempts to find a coach, at the time of the draft we will draft a team and have a meeting with those players to find a person or persons to coach the team.

IF nobody steps up to the plate, refunds will be issued to the players on the team.
