The Middle School football team gutted out a tough victory on Thursday over Grace, 8-6. After a scoreless first half, the Vikings scored first on a fifty yard touchdown run by Kamsi E, and completed the two-point extra try with field goal attempt by Elliot G. The Viking’s defense was amazing throughout the whole game with interceptions by Eric P and Mac B. To prevent the game from going into overtime the Vikings defense blocked the Gators extra point attempt. The Vikings improved their record to 2-0 after this hard-fought affair. After a great win in their season opener at home on Saturday, the Varsity football team will travel to Austin on Friday to take on East Austin Prep. The Vikings are looking forward to the opportunity to carry their momentum into Game 2. Head Coach, Kevon Bagot, was happy with the team’s effort and play on both sides of the ball after Game 1. “There is still a lot we need to clean up and improve on, but we are heading in the right direction. It will be a process from practice to practice, game to game. It’s all about staying focused and being disciplined.” The Vikings are definitely heading in the right direction. With a strong attention to detail, and team identity, this group will definitely keep improving. Good luck to our players and coaches as they travel this Friday! Go Vikings!
