This year could be the biggest year in recruiting history between the three very fine Division One Schools in Oregon and Local Players from Hawaii or of Hawaiian Decent.  Here is a Preview of Boys Committed or close to signing this Year:

Portland State Vikings:

Moses Punzal, 6-3. 265, Kapaa, Hawaii   O Line  ( Go Moses)
J.R. Moala, 6-0, 245, El Camino JC               Linebacker

Oregon State Beavers:

Al Afalava, 6-0, 180, of Kahuku, Hawaii       (Done)
Eric Moala, a linebacker from Hawthorne, Calif.  ( enrolled and brother was a Beaver)

It is really Great to see so many players coming to the Pacific Northwest from the Great State of Hawaii!   Keep it coming Fellows....  We will be watching for more of you as well!

On a side Note the Top Prospect at Wide Receiver in Oregon from Lake Oswego, Oregon may be heading to the U of H Warriors instead of OSU:

 OSU expects to sign Lake Oswego’s Kevin Maher, who told them last week he was committing. Maher, a receiver-linebacker who was the state’s offensive player of the year, visited Hawaii last weekend and was quoted by the Honolulu Advertiser as saying the Warriors had emerged as his top choice.  NIck Lomax, Son of NFL Great Neil Lomax, was Maher's QB this year and he has committed to the Very Excellent Boise State Team!

SMU Coach Dan Morrison Gives Derby Top Mark

Posted by Dirk Knudsen at Jan 6, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

_________________________________________________________________

When asked what makes a great team tick nothing is more important to an Offensive Coach than having a Great O' Line. Quarterback Timmy Chang broke many of the NCAA Records this season and much of that credit rests with Timmy but just as much can be credited to the Warriors Offensive Front. They do a super job. We went straight to the source at the U of H to discuss the Line and what Hawaii QB Coach Dan Morrison had to say about Coach Brian Derby's skills and abilites. Here is what Coach Dan had to say:

Dear Coach Dirk,

I would be more than happy to recommend Brian for your clinic. Brian is probably one of the best technicians with the Offensive Line that I know. He has dedicated his life to getting better and better at teaching his craft. His skills, particularly with Pass Pro, are as good as anyone you can have speak to your coaches and Players. He is a very hands on type of coach and will help anyone interested in learning to become a better coach or player. He is tireless with his time and will spend whatever time people want to answer all questions and go over all techniques.

with Aloha and Pleasure;

Coach Dan Morrison
University of Hawaii, SMU Quarterbacks Coach
