VIKINGS WIN BIG AT HOME AGAINST AURORA

Hoover Hockey came out strong, dominated in the zone, and beat the Aurora Greenmen 5-1 in a physical and fast game Sunday afternoon at Center Ice. In a game that saw three times as many shots on net from the Vikings, hitting and checking were the name of the game, with both teams visiting the penalty box throughout the three periods of play.

The first period brought two goals from the Vikings, with the first scored by Preston Mackert, assisted by Zach Lawson and Alex Zielke. The second goal of the period was scored by Shane Saba, assisted by Bradley Harcourt. Period two started out slow, with the third goal scored almost halfway through the period by Samuel Hankins, assisted by Parker Adams.

Up three to zero after two, the Vikings needed to put the game away early in the third, which they did with Kirk Greenho looking sharp in the net against the most shots in the game. At 12:23 in the third, Preston Mackert delivered a pass off of the boards to Zach Lawson who handed it to Daniel Murphy to place in the net. Aurora's lone goal came in the third, with Hoover quickly following with a goal by Bradley Harcourt from Cole Bukowy to finish the game. Next up for the Vikings is Canfield, at the Ice Zone in Boardman on Wednesday at 5:30. GO VIKES!!!!
