North Canton Hoover Hockey

 Welcome to the 2016-17 Hoover Vikings

The team features 4 Juniors, 7 Sophomores, and one Freshmen.  Playing in the Blue North Division of the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League (GCHSHL), with Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (CVCA), Twinsburg High School, West Geauga High School,Normandy High School, Aurora High School, and Avon Lake High School .  Josh Palsa coaches the team.  Geoff Bishop, and Blake Hamilton assist him.

VIKINGS ADVANCE TO SECOND ROUND OF BARON CUP AFTER DEFEATING LAKEWOOD 3-1

After a slow start and a goal by Lakewood, the Vikings rallied and defeated the Lakewood Rangers in the first game with no Hoover penalities in 11 years! Netminder Korey Davis stopped 23 shots to hold the Rangers to one goal. Less than one minute after Lakewood put a point on the board, the Vikings scored with a goal by Zach Lawson from Brad Harcourt. Period two saw a goal from Dylan Oney from Lawson and Harcourt, and period three, another goal by Lawson, assisted by Oney and Harcourt. The win puts the Vikings in round two of the Baron Cup on Saturday at 3:00 pm as they face off against the winner of the NDCL and Parma game this afternoon. Come out and support our Vikings at the Brooklyn Ice Arena on Saturday! A win on Saturday will mean a championship game on Sunday!! GO VIKES!!!!

VIKINGS WIN 2013 PARMA MLK TOURNAMENT!!

Congratulations to the Hoover Vikings Varsity Hockey Team!!  The boys took the championship game in the MLK tournament last night in Parma with a 6-3 win over Parma High School.

The game was tight with Parma scoring first in the first period.  The Vikings answered with a goal by Mike Magana, assisted by Sam Hankins and Kyle Policicchio six minutes later, bringing the score to 1-1 after the first.   Hoover scored less than 1 minutes into the second on a goal by Policicchio, assisted by Hankins and Spencer Mackert, however this time Parma answered with another goal within the next five minutes.  Brad Harcourt, assisted by Zach Lawson scored with only 25 seconds left in the second period, bringing the score to 3-2 Hoover after two.

Parma tied it up early in the third but Dylan Oney scored two consective goals, assisted by Lawson and Ben Bishop.  An empty netter by Harcourt, assisted by John Derosiers put the game away!  

The Vikings are back to league action Friday night at 5:45 at Center Ice as the face off against Avon Lake.  Come out and support our champions!!  GREAT JOB VIKINGS!!!!

VIKINGS WIN TO EARN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BERTH!!

A big win this morning over Holy Name JV guaranteed the Vikings a spot in the Parma MLK tournament on Wednesday night at 8:15 pm at Michael Ries Arena in Parma.

After a slow start against a tough defensive Holy Name team, Brad Harcourt got the scoring started with a goal assisted by Matt Smith and Dylan Oney.  Oney scored next, assisted by Zach Lawson and Spencer Mackert, ending the first period with a score of 2-0, Hoover. The second period saw Holy Name with only 3:24 left on the clock. 

Third period goals by Alex Zielke, assisted by Kyle Policicchio, Oney, assisted by Lawson and Alec Weber and an empty netter by Sam Hankins assisted by Oney and Lawson finished the game for a final score of 5-2.  The Vikings will square off against Parma for the championship.  GO VIKES!!!!
