AFTER A ROUGH START, VIKINGS EARN SPOT IN TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

After a rough start on Saturday with a loss against Brunswick, the Vikings came back strong on Sunday and Monday to earn a spot in Wednesday night's championship game in the Parma Redmen MLK Tournament. Saturday night's game against Brunswick ended 3 to 2 in favor of Brunswick despite 48 shots on net by the Vikings. Chaz Gordish and Brad Harcourt were the only two players to get the puck past the netminder, each picking up a goal and an assist.

The Vikings met the Parma Redmen on Sunday afternoon in a spirited match with 15 penalities and plenty of aggressive play. Bradley Harcourt started the score for the Vikings with a goal assisted by John Derosiers. Chaz Gordish unassisted, Harcourt assisted by Preston Mackert, Zach Lawson, assisted by Mackert, rounded out periods one and two. In the third, Harcourt scored twice for a game total of 4 goals, and Gordish scored again, assisted by Sam Hankins. Netminder Kirk Greenho stopped 9 shots.

Monday's game against Nordonia was a scoring festival for the Vikings with the ending score 17 - 0 after two periods. Goals were scored by Dylan Oney, Cole Bukowy, Brad Harcourt (3), Shane Saba (2), Chaz Gordish (2), Sam Hankins, Daniel Murphy (2), Kyle Policcichio, John Derosiers (2), Preston Mackert and Mike Magana. Along with several of the goal scorers, Alex Zielke and Madison Ferrell picked up assists. In goal was Korey Davis with another shutout. The win earned the Vikings a spot in Wednesday night's championship game in Parma at 8:15 pm. GO VIKES!!!!
