Vikings Come Up Short in CVCA Holiday Tournament

The Vikings battled, but came out short in the CVCA Holiday Tournament this weekend at Kent State University. Games against Normandy, CVCA and Brunswick were physical and tough, with the lone win coming on Thursday night against Normandy in a 9-5 victory. Four minutes into the first period, Preston Mackert buried the puck on a pass from Bradley Harcourt. Harcourt scored next unassisted and less than a minute later, Chaz Gordish scored on a pass from Shane Saba and Daniel Murphy. To close out the first period with 28 seconds remaining, Kyle Policcichio scored unassisted.

The second period started with a goal by Mackert assisted again by Harcourt, and two more goals, one by Dylan Oney, assisted by Saba and the other by Samuel Hankins, assisted by Alex Zielke and Alec Weber. Period three saw two more goals, one by Harcourt assisted by Mackert and another from Oney, assisted by Parker Adams.

On Friday, the Vikings played two games, the first against CVCA resulting in a 10-1 loss, with the only goal scored by Daniel Murphy, assisted by Chaz Gordish. The second game against Brunswick ended with a score of 5-3 with goals scored by Gordish from Saba, Harcourt from Mackert and John Derosiers from Gordish and Saba.

Saturday morning, the Vikings played in the consolation game against Normandy, with a final score of 7-2, with both goals scored by Preston Mackert, assisted by Daniel Murphy.

The Vikings have a week of practice, followed by a game on Sunday against Aurora at Center Ice. GO VIKES!!!!
