Vikings Ride Rough Over Kent Roosevelt
The Vikings came back with a vengence tonight with a 5-2 win over a tough Rough Riders team. Kent scored first, but 5 unanswered goals followed, with some new faces on the scoreboard including Freshman Nathan Murphy.
Mike Magana started the scoring with a goal halfway into the first period on assists from Samuel Hankins and Kyle Policchio. Dylan Oney scored next on assists from Zach Lawson and Brad Harcourt. Nathan Murphy's first high school goal came at 10:22 in the second period on an assist from Magana. Two minutes later, Spencer Mackert scored unassisted on a slapshot from the blueline.
The third period saw one goal from Harcourt, assisted by Mackert and Lawson. The Rough Riders pulled the goalie with two minutes to go, trying a 6 on 4 during a Hoover penalty but were unable to bury the puck after a stellar performance from goalie Korey Davis who stopped 23 Kent shots.
Tomorrow the Vikings face off against Normandy at 11:00 am and at 8:30 against Elyria Catholic. Come out and support our Hoover Vikings. GO VIKES!!
