Hoover Vikings

After an 8-1 lead, the Vikings found themselves fighting to hang on to what had looked to be a certain victory over the CVCA Royals in the second round of the MLK Tournament in Garfield. 

The Vikings and the Royals have become bitter non-league rivals, squaring off in their second tournament of the year.  The Royals had conquered the Vikings 4-1 in the CVCA Christmas tournament, but not this time.  After a starting goal by CVCA early in the first period, North Canton came back with 7 unanswered goals and it wasn't until late in the second period that CVCA was able to put one in. 

The third period was saw five CVCA goals, bringing it to a one goal game for the last three minutes of play.  In a nail-biting last two minutes, the Vikings defense assisted excellent netminding by Korey Davis and the offensive line did an excellent job keeping the puck out of the zone. At the final buzzer, the Vikes won 9-8, moving them closer to a spot in the finals. Tomorrow's game against Holy Name JV begins at 8:30 am in Parma. If the Vikes play in the championship, the game will be Wednesday night in Parma.
