Although the Mavericks had much earlier clinched their 4th Avocado League Championship in the last 5 years, San Marcos edged the Mavs 3-2 to hand the Mavericks (13-1) their sole league loss. San Marcos (5-9, and 12-16 overall crawled into a third place finish, ahead of El Calmino and Carlsbad which finished at 4-10. The Mavs spotted San Marcos a 3-0 lead after three innings before getting an rbi single by Oseguera in the 4th inning and a solo home run by Burke in the 6th inning. San Marcos limited the Mavs to only three hits as their defense played a flawless game and several hard hit line drives went right to a San Marcos player.
