LA COSTA CANYON HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

  The 2017 Mavericks won the Avocado West League Championship for the Fourth Year in a row with a 14-1 league record, and then lost CIF Open Division Playoff Games at Rancho Bernardo 2-4 and then Eastlake 1-3 to finish another great year at 24-7.

   The Open Division includes the top eight teams in all of San Diego. 

On Saturday May 20th the CIF Open Divsion Playoff Seedings were announced:

1. Rancho Bernardo,  2. Cathedral Catholic,  3. Christian,  4 Rancho Bernardo, 5. La Costa Canyon, 6. Torrey Pines,  7. Helix,  8.  Madison

The Mavericks travel to Rancho Bernardo on 5-24-17 for their opening game at 3:30 pm.  

   The Mavericks rallied in the bottom of the Seventh inning to edge Torrey Pines 6-5 in the rubber match of their three game league series to win an outright 2017 Avocado West League Championship.  At stake was the undisputed sole championship and the higher seed in next week's CIF Playoffs.   La Costa Canyon at 14-1, 24-5; beat the Falcons for the second time, and the Falcons finished league play at 12-3, 24-7.

   On Wednesday May 17th at La Costa Canyon at 3:30 pm the Mavericks face Torrey Pines in the rubber game of their three game league series and the final regular season game of the year for both teams.   La Costa Canyon has a 13 - 1 league record and a one game lead over Torrey Pines at 12 - 2.

   At stake is the undisputed Avocado West League Championship and the higher seed in the upcoming CIF Playoffs.
